Loretta Zanos, 70, of Delhi, passed away at home on Sunday, April 25. She was born in Turlock to Harry and Lucy Carlson in 1940. Loretta lived her entire life in Turlock. She graduated from Turlock High School in 1958. In the same year, she was named Miss Turlock. Loretta was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Red Hat Society, Denair Lions Club, Denair Firecrackers and many others groups through the years. She enjoyed boating and fishing in the Delta and dirt biking. She will be missed by all.
Swrranjit Kaur Sidhu, 65, of Turlock, passed away at Brandel Manor after a short illness. She was born in India and moved to Dallas, Texas in 2001, and then moved to Turlock after learning of her illness. In her life, Swrranjit was a strong, capable person. She was a good cook, excellent organizer, a very social person, was well known, well loved and highly respected for her ability to show hospitality. She loved children and also had a heart for the homeless. She was known for knitting clothes for the homeless.
Herbert Leon Johnson, 88, of Turlock, passed away at Elness Convalescent with his loving wife by his side. Born in Oklahoma to David and Minnie Johnson, he moved with his family to California in 1937. Shortly after arriving in California, Herbert joined the Marines, serving from 1942 to 1945. Herbert, a Private First Class, was qualified as a rifle expert and ranked 3rd of 500 men in his platoon, the 10th Defense Battalion of the USMC. Judy Rodrigues, 39, of Delhi passed away on Friday, April 9 at Emanuel Medical Center. She was born in Hayward, Calif. to Manuel Rodrigues and Judy Grisham in 1970. She lived most of her life in Delhi. Judy was a member of the Livingston/Delhi VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. Her favorite spot to go was Disneyland.
Visitation for Claude Clyde Walker, 85, of Turlock, will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 26 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, also at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
James D. Cargill (Cowboy), born in Osage County, Okla., passed peacefully early Saturday at his daughter's home in Turlock. Mr. Cargill was by trade a cement mason and his concrete work can be seen in many places in Stockton, including the I-5 freeway, Stockton Court House, housing developments in North Stockton and many other places.
Bill Genn, Jr., 82, of Hilmar, passed away at Stanford Medical Center. He was born in Springer, Okla. and moved to Los Angeles at age 15. In 1946, he joined the Army and it was there that Bill started driving heavy equipment. He married the love of his life, Juanita Dehart, in 1949. They lived in the Hilmar area for most of their married life. Bill was a heavy equipment operator for 40 years. He worked road construction and leveled land for farming in the Hilmar area. Leone Heans, 94, of Denair, has returned home to the arms of her loving husband, Bob, and her elder brother, Jesus Christ, and her loving Heavenly Father. There is no doubt about the joyous reunion with her parents and all the rest of her family who have gone on before her.
