Michael Wayne Blair passed away Oct. 25, 2014. Born and raised in Merced CA, Mike was the fourth of ten children born to Ray and Juanita Blair. Mike was a Bee Keeper and many times traveled for his work.
Bonnie Belle Falke, 84, of Turlock, California, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center, after a brief illness on Sunday, October 26, 2014. Bonnie was born to Glenn and Linnie Watson in Eden, Idaho. She was raised in Turlock, attended Turlock area schools, graduated from Turlock High School in 1948. She married the love of her life, Wallace Peterson Falke. They were married for 56 years.
Sam Cross, 65, died peacefully at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA after a year-long struggle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cyndy, and his sister Susie Sellers (Duncan) of Colorado Springs CO, brother-in-law Steve (Glenda) Flentje of Fullerton CA, and mother-in-law Bev Flentje of Payson AZ.
Kenneth Falkenberg, of Turlock, passed away at home after a two year battle with cancer. Kenneth was born in Caldwell, Kansas to Bert and Rita Falkenberg. He attended school in Claremore, OK before moving to California at age 12. He attended Hawthorne School and Turlock High School. After high school he served in the National Guard and worked 32 years for Hartvickson Poultry. He became a self-employed poultry hauler for a total of 56 years before retiring in 2000. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Carmendale Fernandes, 90, of Stockton passed away on October 15, 2014. She was born August 25, 1924, in Turlock to parents, J.C. and Clara Fernandes. Carmendale was raised in Turlock, attended local schools and graduated from Turlock High School. She then attended San Jose State College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and later completed her Master's degree. Carmendale taught school in Sunnyvale from 1946-1988. She was the coach of the debate and speech teams during her tenure at Sunnyvale High School and was nationally known for her work in the field of speech and ...
Greg Fairbairn passed away in Modesto on October 16, 2014 at the age of 59. Greg was born on July 3rd, 1955 to James and Blanche Fairbairn in Sacramento, CA. He has been a resident of the Turlock area for the past 31 years.
Austin Cowan, 85, loved BBQ, ragtime tunes, joking around, and reminiscing about working for "Ma Bell." Born in Hope, NM, to Vera and Audi Cowan, he came of age during the Great Depression. A hard working and determined man, he made a career with the Bell Telephone Company helping advance our nation's communication infrastructure. Austin had an adventurous life with many chapters.
Kirk James passed away after a short illness at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. He grew up in Delhi, attended schools there and graduated from Livingston High School in 1976. Kirk worked for Norcal Nursery and for the last 2 ½ years worked for Wendell Trinkler Jr.
Alice went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sept 25, 2014. Alice attended the Neighborhood Church of Redding for 30 years and was an active member of Stephens Ministries. Alice lived a full and happy life; she enjoyed shopping, playing cards, QVC and dancing. She was an avid square dancer for many years. She had many wonderful friends.
Maria M. Nunes, 77, of Turlock, passed away Wednesday, October 8. Also known as Mary, she was born September 23, 1937 to Francicso and Maria Freitas on the island of Terceira in the Azores. She married Jose "Joe" C. Nunes in 1956 and they immigrated to the United States in 1968 with their children, Alfred and George. Mary loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She made suits for her husband and sons. When she was able, she would be active in Sacred Heart Church and Our Lady of Assumption in Turlock, but she was most involved with family ...
Joseph "Joe" Linhares, 89, of Turlock, died peacefully on Sunday at his home. He was born in Turlock to Antonio and Marie Linhares and spent his entire life here. He attended Tegner School, a one room schoolhouse, and in September of his senior year at Turlock High School he eloped to marry his high school sweetheart, Irma Commons.
Dean West passed away at the age of 79. The youngest of six children, Dean grew up to believe in hard work. He was a good provider and was a very charitable and humble man. He was always reaching into his pocket to help others. In Dean's younger years he was very passionate about horses and had a love for animals throughout his life.
