Ray was a disabled veteran of the United States Army, where he served a tour in Europe. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Turlock, where he attended Modesto Junior College to learn the heating and air conditioning trade. George Avila, Sr a well known citizen of Turlock passed away Saturday May 12, 2012. In the home he and his wife Lupe had built their lives together in, during the evening around sunset and surrounded by members of his loving family, this strong man finally succumbed to ailments related to congestive heart failure, a battle he had fought right to the end. He knew he was loved dearly and that he wasn't alone as he made that last journey.

Doris Elizabeth Pearson, age 101, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012. She was born in Irwin, California to Enfred and Lettie Challberg. She attended schools in Hilmar and then graduated from Providence School of Nursing in 1932. She worked as an RN until she enlisted in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps, in 1942. She settled back in Hilmar in 1946, and married Art Pearson in 1947. During her married years, she continued working as an RN. Clair Willson Reavis

Clair Willson Reavis, 80, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California. Clair was born in Willits, California to Clair and Marjorie Reavis. He grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland Technical High School with continued studies at Merritt Jr. College. Clair had numerous summer jobs growing up including his favorite at the Heinz Food processing plant. Clair worked in the warehouse industry including 37 years at Capwell's Department Store in Oakland. Clair's dedication in his work allowed him to retire in management in 1990.

She was born May 8, 1925, in Auburn, CA, to the late Henry and Maude (Story) Gibson. She graduated from Santa Cruz High School and then moved to Petaluma, where she met her first husband, Albert Gwinner. During that time, she worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. George J. Heilman

George J. Heilman, was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to parents Lawrence and Mary Heilman. He grew up with seven sisters and four brothers on a Midwest wheat farm. George was later drafted to serve in the U.S. Army in the Ninth Armored Division, which was part of the third army serving in Europe during World War II. George returned home to North Dakota where he met and married his wife, Carol. They were married 65 years.

Mary Lois Bare

Mary Lois Bare, 91, of Hilmar, passed away at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mary Lois was born in Arkansas to Julius and Thelma Wegel. She attended schools in Arkansas. After High School graduation she married Charles Bare, a Seaman with the Merchant Marine. They settled in California, first in the Bay Area and then in the Central Valley in 1968. They were married nearly 62 years when he passed away in 2005.

Bobbie Cheves

Bobbie Cheves, 87, of Turlock passed away peacefully on February 18, 2015. Bobbie was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma. When she was young, her family moved to Pittsburg, CA. As a senior in high school, Bobbie moved to Modesto where she graduated from Modesto High School. She married Gene in 1947 and they raised their family in Ceres, CA. After retiring from the Telephone Company, Bobbie and Gene enjoyed traveling and line dancing. She spent the last several years of her life in Turlock, CA. Pete Stavrianoudakis

Pete Stavrianoudakis, passed away last Saturday at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 28, 1936 to Pantelis and Maria Stavrianoudakis. He was a lifelong resident of Hilmar, where he attended grammar school and graduated from Hilmar High School. Pete was a farmer in Hilmar for most of his life and was involved with several community organizations including, Hilmar FFA, Valley Tractor Pullers Association, Hilmar Footbal Boosters and was a member of the Hilmar Lions Club since 1968. He was also a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto.
