Cynthia Ann Pombo passed away on Aug. 16 at Emanuel Medical Center. She was born and lived in Turlock. She is the beloved daughter of Elmer (Christine) Renner and Marvetta (Steve) Silva. Cindy will always be remembered as a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will forever be in our hearts and memories.
Nannajan "Nancy" Baba passed away on Aug. 13. She was born in Urmie, Iran to Baba Ishoo and Pennah Eshya in 1926. At age six, she moved to the city of Hamaden in Iran. She attended the Rabbi Ishak School, where she later returned to teach after she earned a teaching certificate in Kermanshah, Iran. She moved to Tehran in 1956, where she worked for the Ministry of Transportation and coordinated mechanical drawings for bridges and roads in Iran. Oliver Pollinger, 57, of Knights Ferry, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. He was born in Turlock, grew up in Delhi, and graduated from Livingston High School in 1971. He worked for 32 years as a warehouse supervisor for Weyerhauser Paper Company. During this same time he also worked as a farmer, raising grapes on 40 acres and helping with the harvest every year. Oliver was very active, serving as a volunteer fireman with the Delhi Fire Department. He also found time for target shooting, woodcutting, and clamping. Pat is survived by a son, Patrick Hardin; two grandchildren of San Jose; sisters, Connie Wright of Lakeside and Pam Macedo of Modesto; and brothers, Randy Florey of Modesto and Mike Hardin of Turlock. Betty E. McBee, 81, of San Jose, passed away on Aug. 8. She was born in 1929 in Knoxville, Ariz. She was a nurse for 15 years. Betty was a member of Central General Baptist Church of Modesto and she lived in Ceres from 2000 to 2004 before she moved with her daughter to San Jose. She lived in Santa Clara for more than 40 years.

Al Padilla, 75, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House on Aug. 6 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Hanford to Nazario and Soledad Padilla. He spent most of his growing up years in Mexico City before moving to Chicago. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 through 1963. Turlock resident Rubie L. Johnson passed away Friday, March 7, in Hughson. She was born in Turlock, December 16, 1920 to August and Louisa Johnson, the youngest of four children. Rubie graduated from Turlock High School in 1939 and moved to San Francisco to live with her sister, Astrid Oliver. She loved San Francisco and stayed there most of her life, working as a secretary for Met Life Insurance for 38 years, before moving back to Turlock in 2005.
Lin Hugh Griffith, a Turlock attorney whose career spanned five decades and included extensive community involvement, died at Hospice House in Hughson, CA on March 8, 2014 at the age of 90. The cause of death was heart and lung failure.

Oma F. (McElhaney) Parker was born January 25, 1926 in Claremore, Oklahoma. She lived in Oklahoma until age 15 when her mother, Bonnie, father, Vol Wilson, and two brothers, Vol Gene "Bud" and Perry moved to California. The family moved around a lot before finally settling in Turlock in 1941. Oma attended Turlock High School for a time, and later worked for the Puccinelli and Hume canneries.

Jack Landmeier passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the age of 76. He is survived by his children: Lane and Marlene Landmeier, Keith and Diane Landmeier, 8 grandchildren and one great grandson.
