Evelyn A. Dunlop

Evelyn Ann Dunlop, 84, passed away peacefully in Modesto with her family by her side after an extended illness. She was born in Turlock to early Swedish settlers, Alvin and Hildur Erickson. Her grandfather, Peter Erickson, served as the first chairman of the board of trustees of Turlock High School when it was founded in 1906.

Malcolm G. Eddy

Malcolm Eddy, 89, died at his home in Turlock. He was born in Hamadan, Iran and spent 35 years working as an accountant for the National Iranian Oil Co. In 1977, he and his family emigrated to the U.S., settling in Turlock. Here he worked as an instructional aide for TUSD for 15 years, and he also worked at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds for 25 years.

Vladimir Antoniuk

Vladimir Antoniuk was born in the Ukraine on Feb. 13, 1935. At the age of three, his family moved to Argentina and he later immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s at the age of 24, where he attended seminary in Chicago. His first marriage was to Betty Yakimow and they adopted their first son, Daniel, in the late 60s.

Adrian Alfaro

Adrian Alfaro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, due to complications resulting from Zellweger's Syndrome, a peroxisomal disorder. He was two weeks shy of his third birthday. Adrian was a living angel here on earth and touched the lives of many in his short life. Although Adrian never spoke a word, or was able to walk, his smile and loving eyes changed the heart of everyone he met. Adrian has left us wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

Mary Ellen Battista, 89, passed away on Jan. 5, 2011.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church; ambassador for the Secure Horizons Insurance for years; and managed the brown bag and commodities food program give away with her friends in Turlock for 20 years. Unetta Bell (Coulson) was born in Texas on May 2, 1918. She peacefully passed away on Jan. 2, 2011 at the age of 92. For most of her adult life she resided in Turlock.

An inspiring woman, Vangie J. Hartvickson 63, of Turlock passed away on Jan. 5, 2011.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1947, in Ogden, Utah to wonderful parents, Joe Chris and Margaret Sandoval. Her younger years were spent laughing, singing, dancing and, yes, fighting with her sisters. She spent many hours with a salt shaker in her hand belting out tunes and breaking vases with her dance moves. Vangie attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated in 1965. Although she was one of the quieter daughter's, Vangie kept the nuns and priests on their toes.

Mark L. Richesin

Mark Richesin, 50, of Lake Don Pedro passed away at Mercy Hospital in Merced. Mark was born in Stockton to Carl and Carol Richesin, later moving to the Modesto area. In 1983, Mark became employed at the Weyerhaeuser Paper/Ip Company; he served 27 dedicated years there. Claudine Leverett

Claudine Leverett, 86, of Turlock passed away at Elness Convalescent Hospital on Jan. 4. She was born in Bellville, Ariz. to Thomas and Susan Cashion in 1924. She lived in Arizona and moved to Manteca in the early 1950s. In the early 90s, she moved to Modesto and three years ago moved to Turlock. Mary Lois Bare

Mary Lois Bare, 91, of Hilmar, passed away at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mary Lois was born in Arkansas to Julius and Thelma Wegel. She attended schools in Arkansas. After High School graduation she married Charles Bare, a Seaman with the Merchant Marine. They settled in California, first in the Bay Area and then in the Central Valley in 1968. They were married nearly 62 years when he passed away in 2005.

Bobbie Cheves, 87, of Turlock passed away peacefully on February 18, 2015. Bobbie was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma. When she was young, her family moved to Pittsburg, CA. As a senior in high school, Bobbie moved to Modesto where she graduated from Modesto High School. She married Gene in 1947 and they raised their family in Ceres, CA. Pete Stavrianoudakis

Pete Stavrianoudakis, passed away last Saturday at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 28, 1936 to Pantelis and Maria Stavrianoudakis. He was a lifelong resident of Hilmar, where he attended grammar school and graduated from Hilmar High School. Pete was a farmer in Hilmar for most of his life and was involved with several community organizations including, Hilmar FFA, Valley Tractor Pullers Association, Hilmar Footbal Boosters and was a member of the Hilmar Lions Club since 1968. He was also a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto.
