William "Bill" Beatty, who lived many years in Modesto, died on Dec. 19, 2009. A graduate of Turlock High School, he was the first child born to a family in the Delhi Land Settlement. Bill was the son of the late Dr. Walter K. Beatty and Matilde Garcia Beatty.
Evelyn Aldridge, 83, of Turlock, passed away on Dec. 16 at St. Francis Care Center in Turlock. She was a homemaker for 50 years. Private services will be held. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Ilo Bell of Auburn.
Chris Anderson, 47, was born in Turlock to Carl Lawrence "Dux" Anderson and Linda Anderson. He died at home in Chicago Park, Calif. on Dec. 3, under the care of Hospice of the Sierra Nevada, after treatment for cancer was discontinued.
Evelyn Elston was born in Van Nuys, Calif. She moved to Turlock in 1949 and graduated Turlock High School in 1959. She attended Modesto Junior College and graduated from Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz in 1964. She lived in Venice, Calif. after marrying James Aulds and taught school in the Watts District of LA. During this time her son James was born. She married Joe Elston in 1992.
Thomas is survived by his parents, his fiance, 3 children: Joshua, Thomas, and Jordan Devine, 4 step-daughters: Hayley, Savannah, Kayla, and Madilynn; siblings: Brandy Devine, Nicole French, and Angel Standridge, and step-father Daniel Morad.
Donald Leon Swanson crossed the threshold to Heaven on May 14th, 2015 at the age of 91. Don was born on September 17th, 1923 to Warner and Vera Swanson, pioneers of the Youngstown Colony of Swedish immigrants in Turlock, settling on Swanson Road in Delhi.
Edward Roy Munroe, 84, of Turlock, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at English Oaks Convalescent in Modesto. He grew up in Delhi, CA and after he graduated from Livingston High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He settled in Turlock in 1993.
Alma Chambers was born in Jefferson City, Missouri to the daughter of Louis and Marie (Renterghem) Loethen. She moved to Turlock where she graduated from THS in 1958 and married fellow grad, Ronald Chambers, on July 24, 1960 at Sacred Heart Church. Alma spent many years as a legal secretary before retiring from the Attorney General's Office in Missouri. She owned Alma's Ceramics in downtown Turlock. Nancy Middleton Thompson, beloved wife, mother, and teacher, died in Modesto, California, on May 7, 2015. Family, faith, and a commitment to nurturing future generations were the pillars upon which Nancy built a life of love and service. Nancy was devoted to an extended family with deep roots in the Midwest.
