Jayne Hougland, 94, passed away on July 7 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. She formerly lived in Turlock until her recent move to the Samaritan Village in Hughson. Jayne was born Jan. 28, 1916 in Glasgow, Mont. to Melville and Bertha Walker. She graduated from high school in Montana and went on to graduate from the University of Montana with a BA in Fine Arts. Donald Calvin Yingling, 84, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center. Donald was born in Sandwich, Ill. to Oscar and Minnie Yingling. As a young man he entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during WW II. He took great pride in serving his country.

Barbara Dee Woodral, 66, passed away on July 7 in Crescent City after battling cancer. She was born on Aug. 3, 1943 in Durante, Okla. and resided there until the age of 13. Barbara then moved to California where she spent the rest of her life. She met her husband, Bob, in high school, and they later had three children together. Barbara was a homemaker for many years and worked 12 years prior to her retirement at Dairyland Market in Hilmar, where she was well known by many. She retired in Crescent City four years ago. Dennis Moore, 61, of Hilmar, passed away at home on Monday, July 5. He was born in Turlock to Jack and MaryEllen Moore in 1948. Dennis was raised in Modesto and graduated from Thomas Downey High School in 1966. In high school, Dennis was athletic and was on the football and track teams. He lived in the Modesto/Turlock area until 2000, when he settled in Hilmar. Later in life, he was an avid outdoorsman.

Maria Camarillo, 66, of Turlock, died on July 2 in San Francisco. She was born in Mexico. She was a homemaker for 30 years and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Turlock. Maria enjoyed gardening, raising doves, and spending time with family and friends.

Owen Pollard Ford

Owen Ford, 92, passed away at Emmanuel Hospital on June 30. He was born in Moody, Texas and was in the Army for 20 years. He was in the 5th Horse Calvary and served in George Patton at Ft. Clark, Texas and later under General MacArthur in the Pacific War. He then served in the Korean War. While stationed in Ft. Riley, Kansas and working with Olympic Team, he saw the horse Calvary disbanded. He retired as a Master Sgt., 1st Armored Division, Ft. Polk, La., at the age of 38. Irving "Sonny" Smith, 96, of Hughson, was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He served in World War II and in the Korean War, and retired from the New York City Police Department after a 24-year career. He was married to his wife Helen for 67 years and had four children, 10 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Irma Katherine Farr (nee King), 87, died Thursday, July 1 in a Gallup, NM rest home. She was born in Dawt, Ozark County, Mo. and moved to California later in life. Mrs. Farr lived in Gustine for 25 years and attended schools in and around Kingsburg. She worked as a secretary to the chief of police and was a dispatcher for the Gustine Police and Fire Departments for 18 years. In 1986, Farr moved with her husband to New Mexico. She loved reading, music, her grandchildren and bird-watching.
