Mamie Lee Long, 85, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Evergreen Convalescent Hospital where she had been residing for the last year. Her husband, Norman, preceded her in death last May. They were married for 43 years.
Charles Edward Wright was born in Beggs, Okla. to Noah and Bertha Wright. His family lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Arizona. They moved to Oakdale, Calif. in the late 1930s. He graduated from Oakdale High in 1946. After 27 years of marriage, his first wife, Viola, passed away in 1970. He married Reba Maxine Morrow in 1973. Maxine passed away in December 2009, after 36 years of marriage. Charles passed away on Jan. 21, 2010.
Frances was born in Calexico, Calif. to parents Levi and Olga Jacobson in 1919. In 1948, she moved with her husband and children to Denair and they later settled in Turlock. She worked for Turlock School District for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit England, Alaska and take many world cruises.
Linda Ann (Sigala) Lucas, 59, of Salinas enjoyed Scrabble, reading, sewing and spending time with her family. Her favorite things to do were going to the movies and taking family trips to Disneyland. She was an educator since 1987.
Elizabeth Bailey was born Oct. 4, 1913 in Berkeley, Calif., the elder daughter of a US Navy surgeon and a University of California instructor. Her father died when she was quite young. Betty took on adult responsibilities early, helping to run the household and look after her younger sister, Frances, while their mother became the breadwinner.
Visitation for Vincent V. Spoto, 76, will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., in Turlock. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at Turlock Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
Visitation for Mamie Lee Long, 85, will held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the North Hilmar Cemetery.
