Walter Welker, 59, of Hilmar, passed away on March 7 at home. He was born in Kennett, Mo. to Carl and Joyce Welker in 1950. Walter served in the Army for three years during the Korean War. He lived in the Central Valley for most of his life and settled in Hilmar in 2006. He was a U.S.D.A. inspector for 15 years. Walter was a member of the Hilmar Covenant Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed football, wrestling, video games and camping.
Tura Mae Lewis, 95, passed away March 3, at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. She was born June 1914 in Texas and spent most of her life in Orenco, Ore. She worked as a grocery checker for 21 years at Cruse's Grocery in Hillsboro, Ore. She lived in Walla Walla before she settled in Turlock 10 years ago. Spending time with her grandkids and socializing with people were the highlights of her life.
