Howard Burton Keup

Howard Keup, 77, of Turlock, was born in Nebraska to Louis and Lula Keup in 1932. He was raised in Nebraska and Wyoming. The family moved to Delhi before Howard started high school. He graduated from Livingston High School, and after graduation in November of 1953, he married Cleta Taylor. Howard was an outdoors-man. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed animals. His family has many good memories of "Papa" with his chickens and also his jelly beans.

Mary Patricia Liss Pitt

Mary Patricia Liss Pitt, 77, passed away peacefully with her daughters and son-in-law at her side on June 16 at Emmanuel Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. in May of 1933 to Irene Theresa Jadzewski and Walter W. Liss. After attending Holy Angels Academy in high school, she earned her bachelor's of science degree at Milwaukee Donner College, now Lawrence University, in Appleton, Wis.

Edna M. Land

Edna Land passed away in her home on Friday, June 18. Land was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Dec. 23, 1919 to Gerrit and Jennie Helder. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of Corporal. She was the third child in a family of 12 children. Land was a member of the Disciples of Christ for over 65 years, and a member of First Christian Church for the past several years. She was active in youth leadership roles at churches in Sunnyvale, Seattle, Wash., South Bend, Ind. and Lake Camanche.

Hilda Mae Desper

Hilda Mae Desper was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on May 4, 1918. She was married to Sherm Desper a barber, for many years. Hilda worked for Armours and Woolworths before going to work at Penguins Ice Cream, where she worked for about 20 years. She moved to Iowa to take care of her sick father. After his death, she moved back to Turlock and went to work for the Senior Lunch Program and volunteered at the Salvation Army and other volunteer programs. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Gurnam Kaur Dhaliwal

Gurnam Dhaliwal, 89, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Sunday, June 20. She was born in Sujawal Pur, Rajistan, India to Bhagwan Singh and Kartar Kaur Chahal in 1921. Gurnam was raised in India and came to the United States in 1977. She lived in Turlock for the last 30 years of her life. She was a member of the Turlock Sikh Temple. Gurnam loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren. God and family were her life.

Freda May Bromley

Freda Bromley, 79, of Turlock, passed away victoriously at Turlock Nursing and Rehab Center on Sunday with her family by her side. Freda was singing "Amazing Grace" at the time of her passing. She was born in Oklahoma to James and Hessie Whitsett and grew up in Van Buren, Ark. She graduated from high school in Van Buren, Ark. Tony Toste, 86, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson with his family by his side. He was born in Tipton to Manuel and Maria Toste in 1923. In 1935 his family moved to the Azores. He moved back to California and worked for AC Transit before retiring at the age of 56 in Stevinson. He was a member of many Catholic organizations. Arthur T. Weaver

Arthur T. Weaver, 87, died June 12 in Napa. He was born June 25, 1922, to Roy and Bernice Weaver of Turlock. He attended Turlock schools and Modesto Junior College before going to Stanford University where he was a member of Beta Theta Phi fraternity and studied business. Arthur went into the Navy as an ensign in World War II. He attended several colleges, including Colorado College, Ohio State and Columbia. Willie William Yeley

Affectionately known as Pug, Willie was born in Chicta, Texas on Aug. 28, 1920. He passed from this life in Turlock on June 20, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Pug moved to Arizona in 1942, where he met and married Alva Maxine (Myers) Yeley. Together they moved to Porterville and worked in the labor camps from 1944 to 1948. In 1948 Pug started working for Tidewater Oil until he retired. Pug and Maxine moved to the Delhi / Turlock area in 1979.

Charles Finny Woodard, 87, passed away at his residence in Denair. He was born in Kansas to Elda and Frances Woodard. He was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18 and was stationed in Hawaii. After his service he settled in San Diego where he met and married his wife of 63 years, Florence Berger. Lucien Anthony Musso

Lucien Musso, 90, of Turlock, passed away in Turlock on Friday. He was born and raised in New York City to Anthony and Celestine Musso. He graduated from high school in New York City. As a young man, Lucien was a great athlete. He played baseball and football, but he achieved recognition as the New York State Overall Champion Bicycle Racer twice – in 1936 and again in 1939.
