Harjinder Kaur Dhaliwal, 73, of Ceres, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Wednesday. She was born in India to Labh and Lajwanty Johal in 1936. She was a dearly loved mother and grandmother. Harjinder was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Pakhar Singh Dhaliwal. She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Bhupinder Singh Dhaliwal, Jaswinder Singh Dhaliwal, Narinder Singh Dhaliwal and Ranjit Kaur Gill; and nine grandchildren. Sohan Singh Dhahoya, 82, died March 11 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock of natural causes. He was born August 1927 in Abhowal Hoshiarpur, India to Kala and Rudy Dhanoya. He moved to Yuba City on Jan. 1, 1985, and made Turlock his home in 1989. He was a member of the Turlock Sikh Temple, and enjoyed reading Sikh books and spending time with his children.
Mary Nancy Rockwood was born in 1919 to Mary and Joe Machado in California and settled in Stanislaus County 35 years ago. She was an excellent mother and loved and cared for her family. Her hobbies included reading, listening to music and walking. She was loved by her family and will be missed dearly.
Christina Lauren DeKelaita, 26, passed away on March 6 after being struck by an automobile, twice. Christina was born in San Francisco, but she was raised in Turlock until 16 years of age. She attended JFK School of Ceres. She moved to San Jose at 17 years of age until the time of her unfortunate death. She graduated from Achieve Kids School in 2007. She was both autistic and deaf.
Pauline Luttrell was born to Florence and Arthur Stevens on Jan. 21, 1923 in Tuckerman, Ark. She was one of four children. She came to the Bakersfield region during the depression era where she later met and married Raymond Luttrell in 1945. They moved that same year to Denair, where they resided for 64 years.
Mabel Baptista was born in Gilroy to Everett and Velma Beghtel. At age 2, her parents did not survive an automobile accident and Mabel moved to Waterford. She graduated from Hughson High School where she met the love of her life, Roy Baptista. They were married in 1949, and lived happily until Roy passed on March 10, 1986.
Audrey L. (Jacobsen) Clarke, respectively known as Grandma Peggy, was born in Pomona, Calif. on Oct. 5, 1929, and passed away gracefully on March 8, 2010. Traces of her unique lifetime participation, imagination, accomplishments and many dreams fulfilled will linger on forever. Peggy's hard working, courageous and charismatic energy was a blessing to all. She touched her kind hands upon many lives and was an inspiration to those around her. She guided her family with great strength, selflessness and held close to her heart the priorities of loved ones.
Donald Petersen passed away of natural causes. He leaves his wife, Verna Petersen; son, Tristan Petersen; daughter, Lauren Willis; grandchildren, Samuel Petersen and Logan Willis; brothers, Rodney Petersen and David Petersen; and sisters, Dorothea Petersen-Serrano and Chella O'Bryant.
Walter Welker, 59, of Hilmar, passed away on March 7 at home. He was born in Kennett, Mo. to Carl and Joyce Welker in 1950. Walter served in the Army for three years during the Korean War. He lived in the Central Valley for most of his life and settled in Hilmar in 2006. He was a U.S.D.A. inspector for 15 years. Walter was a member of the Hilmar Covenant Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed football, wrestling, video games and camping.
