After living life to its fullest and on his terms, Bob, age 93, passed peacefully in his sleep on November 23rd, following complications from a fall. He was born in Turlock on June 6, 1923, to Royal and Edla Johnson. Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Wayne, Wally and Weldon. The Johnson boys all attended Johnson Joint Elementary and Turlock High School. Bob gave each teacher a "run for their money".
Thomas Francis Locke, passed away on November 28, 2016. He will always be remembered for his lifelong dedication and love for his family. Many important decisions throughout his life were based on how it would affect his immediate family as well as those family members that would be added throughout future years.
Born in northwestern England, Beryl Kathleen Ringgenberg passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 26. Schooled in England, Beryl joined the Royal Air Force as a W.A.A.F. (Women's Auxiliary Air Force) during WWII. Always ready for a new experience, she volunteered for placement at nine different airbases during her tenure in the service as a teleprinter operator. Wanda G. Sharpe, a beautiful godly woman, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this past Sunday. Wanda, one of four siblings was born in Oklahoma to Earl and Veler Bryant in the winter of 1930.
Pat Uekert, 89, of Hilmar, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center. Pat was born in Empire, CA to Leonard and Anna Crews. She lived most of her life in California's Central Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary Bartlow, and sister and brother-in-law Carmen and Ster. Glenn. She is survived by her daughter Ann Christensen of Hilmar and sister Shari (Wayne) Gurganus of Morgantown, WV, and grandchildren Eric and Amy.
Mildred Horney, 99, of Turlock, passed away at Turlock Nursing and Rehab. Center. Mildred was born in El Reno, Oklahoma. She graduated from High School in 1932. Mildred married Gailard Horney in 1964. They were married 47 years before his passing in 2011. Mildred worked for many years as a secretary. She loved volunteering at the Riverbank United Methodist Church, Memorial Hospital, and the Riverbank food bank. She and Gailard loved square dancing, and enjoyed gardening.
Albert R. Mitzel, 87, passed away at his Turlock home. Albert was born in Eureka, So. Dakota to Jacob and Katie Mitzel. He attended school there and helped on the family farm where they raised beef cattle. In fact, he quit school after completing the 8th grade to help with the family farm. He met the love of his life, DellaMae Zimmerman, while she was working at the soda fountain in the local Rexall Drug. They were married in the Artas (So. Dakota) Baptist Church in the spring of 1949.
