Myrna Bakke, 92, of Turlock died at Emanuel Medical Center on Tuesday, Sept. 7 after a brief illness.
She was born in Gull Lake, Wis. to Herbert and Myrtle E. McNitt in 1918. During the Depression, the family moved to Spooner, Wis. After graduating from teacher's college, she taught grades 1-8 for seven years in a one-room schoolhouse.
Mike Karp, 43, of Escalon passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
He was born in San Jose, Calif. to Gordon and Kathryn Karp in 1967. Mike lived in the Bay Area most of his life until moving to Escalon in 2006. He enjoyed BMXs, motorcycles, quads, cooking and going to concerts. Mike was a sports fanatic. Family was his life.
Jess Manuel Perez was born into glory on Sept. 8, 2010. Honoring his desire to be surrounded by family, he died in his home in Turlock.
Kenneth Hill, 72, was born in Wisconsin and passed away in Evert, Wash.
Loren Fullmer, 68, of Turlock passed away at home on Monday, Aug. 30. He was born in Ely, Nev. and raised in Livingston. In 1960, Loren joined the Navy and served until 1963. He worked as a Civil Servant for McClellan Air Force Base until the base was closed. He was a general contractor in the Sacramento Area. In 2005, Loren moved to Turlock. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints and a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, cabinetry and restoring antique cars. He loved riding motorcycles and making people laugh.
Derek Lloyd Howell, 30, of Turlock, passed away on Sept. 6 in Stevinson.
Benjamin Adams, 50, of Modesto died Sept. 6 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. Benjamin was born January 1960, in New York. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1982 to 1985. He lived in Turlock for three years before he settled in Modesto 20 years ago.
Juanita Roman, 92, of Ceres was born April 13, 1918 in Havana, Cuba and passed away on Sept. 1, 2010 in Turlock.
Elma Machado, 84, of Hilmar, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Sunday. She was born to Frank and Pauline Perreira in Tulare, Calif. She was raised on dairies and attended schools in Gustine and Hopeton, Calif.
Gary Richard Swanson, 63, passed away, Sept. 3, 2010 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. He was born and raised in Turlock, the son of the late Carl and Bessie (Taylor) Swanson.
Iola Hibdon was born in Oklahoma to Prestley and Margaret Britton in 1920. She later settled in Ceres, where she lived for 51 years. She loved traveling and also enjoyed her work as a licensed vocational nurse at Memorial Hospital for 35 years.
Edward Anthony Tacheira was born on May 6, 1923 in Livingston, Calif. and died on Aug. 24, 2010 in Ceres, Calif.
Antonio Romero, 72, of Delhi, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico to Emilio and Coleta Romero.
Caroline Lorraine Cunha, 86, passed away with her family by her side at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.
Audrey Morrison, 88 of Alexandria, Va., passed away Aug. 21, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. She was the wife of Lt. Colonel (Air Force) Marvis C. Morrison, mother of Kimberly Morrison Bell of Alexandria and Brian A. (Susan) Morrison of Greensboro and grandmother of Kaitlyn and Kyle Morrison of Greensboro.
Turlock resident Annette Pauline (Lodewyck) Mayer, 94, died April 15, 2014, at Brandel Manor Nursing Home where she lived for the past six years.
Cheryl was called home by the Lord 11:11AM on April 7, 2014. She passed peacefully away with her husband and family all around her at Alexander Cohen Hospice in Hughson.
Jim was born in Turlock, California on April 18, 1922 and passed away on April 16, 2014 at the age of 91. After graduating from Turlock High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served under General George S. Patton during World War II.
Ron "Ronnie" Enos passed away peacefully on April 4, 2014 in his sleep at home after a short battle with cancer surrounded by those he loved. Ron and his wife Pam resided at "Enos Ranch" here in Mariposa for the past 12 years after moving from Oakdale where he lived for 26 years. He retired from Lawrence Livermore National Lab in 2001, as a Lab Assistant. Ron also operated Big Oak Stables for 17 years in Cull Canyon.
