Lionel Gomes, 77, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Ceres. Lionel was born in Gustine, California to Henry and Mary Gomes, one of five children. Reuben Harold Spitsen, Jr. died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home in Turlock. He was born September 1933 in the family home in Hilmar on Riverside Rd. After he graduated from Hilmar High School in 1952 he was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1953 - 1955. Roy Bernell Hirschkorn passed away Dec. 24, 2014 after a long illness. Roy was born July of 1938, in Turlock CA, and was a life-long resident. In his younger years Roy was a member of the Turlock Junior Marching Band and continued to play and enjoy music throughout his life.

Rodrigo Manuel Rodrigues passed away on Wednesday December 17th, 2014. Rod was born on October 31st, 1952 in Pico, Azores. Moved to Tracy, CA with his parents and siblings in 1967, then made Modesto his permanent residence. One of his many accomplishments was managing their family dairy with his father as a young adult, which lead him to owning and handling many rental properties. Rod enjoyed working hard to provide for his family. He married Sylvia Cisneros-Rodrigues in 2000. Rod loved family, fishing, dancing and traveling. He also enjoyed being a foster parent; raising 31 boys since 2001.

Mary Lois Bare, 91, of Hilmar, passed away at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mary Lois was born in Arkansas to Julius and Thelma Wegel. She attended schools in Arkansas. After High School graduation she married Charles Bare, a Seaman with the Merchant Marine. They settled in California, first in the Bay Area and then in the Central Valley in 1968. They were married nearly 62 years when he passed away in 2005.

Pete Stavrianoudakis, passed away last Saturday at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 28, 1936 to Pantelis and Maria Stavrianoudakis. He was a lifelong resident of Hilmar, where he attended grammar school and graduated from Hilmar High School. Pete was a farmer in Hilmar for most of his life and was involved with several community organizations including, Hilmar FFA, Valley Tractor Pullers Association, Hilmar Footbal Boosters and was a member of the Hilmar Lions Club since 1968. He was also a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto.
Bill was born and raised in Turlock. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1971 and CSU Stanislaus in 1975. Bill was very active in sports throughout his school years, playing basketball and baseball and later traveling overseas with Athletes in Action and Sports Ambassadors. Bill was an evangelist for all of his adult life. He started evangelism classes at Monte Vista Chapel and enjoyed teaching Bible studies. Bill gave generously of himself to others, investing in their lives. He was a substitute teacher with Turlock School District for many years.
