Jean Heckendorf passed away, Tuesday, April 22 in Hughson, California. Jean was born to Linden E. and Margaret H. Heckendorf on November 19, 1925, in Turlock, California. She was a graduate of Fresno State College and earned her master's degree at the University of Colorado, at Boulder. Jean taught Physical Education at Tennyson High School in Hayward for over thirty years and finished her career as an English instructor.
Dan was born in Hollister, CA to Manuel and Mary Avilla and has lived in Stevinson, CA since 1934. Attended Merquin Elementary and Hilmar High School. Served in the US Army from1945-46 at Camp Beale AFB base near Marysville, CA. Shortly after returning home from service he met his future wife Lula Garvin. Dan is survived by his wife of 65 years Lula (Garvin) Avilla. Also surviving are four sons, Randy (Suzie), Rodney (Norma), Roger and Russ. Charlie Alberti was enjoying his yard work on April 11 when his heart stopped and needed to rest. Charlie was born on August 15, 1918 in San Rafael to Swiss Italian parents Emil and Catherine Alberti. He lived in San Rafael, Los Banos, and Gustine on his parents' 20 acre dairy ranch. Charlie was a World War II Veteran and served with the 41st Infantry and Artillery Division where he was a scout for the Technician Corps Staff and was in charge of his platoon. He proudly shook hands with General MacArthur and cared for his riding horse.
Amy Anna Elvera Johnson was brought into this world at home on December 31, 1915 in Marysville, California. She was the fifth of six children to Josua and Hannah Johnson. Amy attended Beulah Covenant Church as a child and is a charter member of Monte Vista Chapel.
Kathleen Ann (Cole) Lieb passed away on April 10, 2013 in Los Banos, Calif., surrounded by family members and many close, extremely dedicated friends who took care of her every need during her three-and-a-half year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 49 years old.

Jane graduated from Turlock High School in 1961 where she was active as a cheerleader, student body secretary and the 1961 Football Queen. Eliseu "Eli" S. Mendonça, Sr., age 67, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his Crows Landing residence. Mr. Mendonça was born in Feteira, Terceira, Açores and immigrated to the United States in 1957, and together with his parents and siblings, settled in Tulare, California. The family also resided in Stockton and Tracy. In 1963, the family moved their dairy operation to Willows where they resided for five years. Gary Grant Norman passed away April 2, 2013 from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 52. Gary was born in Logan, Utah and grew up with his large and close-knit family in Paradise, Utah. Gary worked hard and loved to play football. All who met Gary immediately liked him. He served honorably in the England London South Mission for two years and was married to Angela Batty in the Logan, Utah Temple on September 10, 1982. He graduated from Utah State University in 1986.
Michael Boyd, 55, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center after a two year battle with cancer. Michael was born at Emanuel Hospital in Turlock to Henry and Lynn Boyd. He graduated from Turlock High School. He was a high school athlete competing in baseball and wrestling. For 35 years he worked as a carpenter in home construction. He enjoyed playing softball, gambling, and hanging out with his friends. Michael had lots of friends. He will be greatly missed.
