George Avila, Sr a well known citizen of Turlock passed away Saturday May 12, 2012. In the home he and his wife Lupe had built their lives together in, during the evening around sunset and surrounded by members of his loving family, this strong man finally succumbed to ailments related to congestive heart failure, a battle he had fought right to the end. He knew he was loved dearly and that he wasn't alone as he made that last journey.
Doris Elizabeth Pearson, age 101, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012. She was born in Irwin, California to Enfred and Lettie Challberg. She attended schools in Hilmar and then graduated from Providence School of Nursing in 1932. She worked as an RN until she enlisted in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps, in 1942. She settled back in Hilmar in 1946, and married Art Pearson in 1947. During her married years, she continued working as an RN. Clair Willson Reavis, 80, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California. Clair was born in Willits, California to Clair and Marjorie Reavis. He grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland Technical High School with continued studies at Merritt Jr. College. Clair had numerous summer jobs growing up including his favorite at the Heinz Food processing plant. Clair worked in the warehouse industry including 37 years at Capwell's Department Store in Oakland. Clair's dedication in his work allowed him to retire in management in 1990.
Clint Case, 41, of Hilmar, passed away after a long battle with illness. Clint was born in Ceres, California to Eddy and Marilyn Case. He attended Keyes Elementary School and, at age 10, attended Crowell School in Turlock. His Junior High years were in Chadwick, Missouri, and he returned to be near his Mom and graduated from Angels Camp High School.

Dorothy Ella Wright, 86, of Turlock, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 8, 1925, in Auburn, CA, to the late Henry and Maude (Story) Gibson. She graduated from Santa Cruz High School and then moved to Petaluma, where she met her first husband, Albert Gwinner. During that time, she worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Simon White was born in Turlock. He attended kindergarten at Cunningham Elementary, went on to Schendel School in Delhi, Delhi Middle School and graduated from Delhi High School. He played baseball and football in middle school, made "All Stars" in high school football.
John died Friday surrounded by family. A dynamic and loving man, John celebrated life and enjoyed it to the fullest. John was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Bertacchi and survived by his wife, Janice Segars, his sister Kathi Cunningham, his stepfather Roy Bertacchi, his two children Stephanie and Zachary and many loving family members and friends.

Francisco "Frank" Salas, of Turlock, CA, passed away on Friday, April 20th, 2012. He was one of five siblings born to Jess and Loreda Salas. He is survived by his sister, Angie Salas, sons Anthony and Michael Salas and daughter Tatia Childers. Frank married the former Elaine Elick on 7/7/1985 and she preceded him in death.
George J. Heilman, was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to parents Lawrence and Mary Heilman. He grew up with seven sisters and four brothers on a Midwest wheat farm. George was later drafted to serve in the U.S. Army in the Ninth Armored Division, which was part of the third army serving in Europe during World War II. George returned home to North Dakota where he met and married his wife, Carol. They were married 65 years.
Linda John, 53, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Linda had lived her whole life with challenges. She was born in Spokane, WA, the first of two girls born to David and Valerie John. The family moved to California when Linda was two. When she was still very young, her father was killed in an auto accident. Kenneth Falkenberg, of Turlock, passed away at home after a two year battle with cancer. Kenneth was born in Caldwell, Kansas to Bert and Rita Falkenberg. He attended school in Claremore, OK before moving to California at age 12. He attended Hawthorne School and Turlock High School. After high school he served in the National Guard and worked 32 years for Hartvickson Poultry. He became a self-employed poultry hauler for a total of 56 years before retiring in 2000. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Carmendale Fernandes, 90, of Stockton passed away on October 15, 2014. She was born August 25, 1924, in Turlock to parents, J.C. and Clara Fernandes. Carmendale was raised in Turlock, attended local schools and graduated from Turlock High School. She then attended San Jose State College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and later completed her Master's degree. Carmendale taught school in Sunnyvale from 1946-1988. Austin Cowan, 85, loved BBQ, ragtime tunes, joking around, and reminiscing about working for "Ma Bell." Born in Hope, NM, to Vera and Audi Cowan, he came of age during the Great Depression. A hard working and determined man, he made a career with the Bell Telephone Company helping advance our nation's communication infrastructure. Austin had an adventurous life with many chapters.
Kirk James passed away after a short illness at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. He grew up in Delhi, attended schools there and graduated from Livingston High School in 1976. Kirk worked for Norcal Nursery and for the last 2 ½ years worked for Wendell Trinkler Jr.
