She lived in the Tulare and Visalia areas before settling in Keyes 45 years ago. She worked for Del Monte Foods and then Tri-Valley Growers. She enjoyed ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, attending the churches in Keyes, and working with elderly people at the convalescent hospitals.

Robert "Bob" Stern was a third generation San Franciscan; his mother and grandmother were survivors of the 1906 earthquake. Robert received his education for electrical engineering during his time in the Army and also at UC Berkeley. He died peacefully at the age of 85 in his home in Oakdale.
