James (Jim) A. Whitaker, Jr., lifelong resident of Turlock, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, surrounded by his children. He was 72 years old and born in Turlock to Jim and Alfreida Whitaker on November 13, 1944.
Souto passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, January 12, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was 66 years old and was born in Pedro Miguel, Faial, Açores, to Jose and Alvarina Rosa. She had lived in the Turlock area for the last 44 years. She battled like a warrior against cancer for over 21 years, especially the last five years.
Marguerite Flora was born in Norcatur, Kansas. She was the second youngest of 8 children. The family moved to Nebraska when she was five years old. Marguerite attended school in a one-room schoolhouse and moved to California after graduating high school in 1937. She met Ray Flora of Empire and the two were married June 3rd, 1939 and months later moved to Turlock. They spent their remaining years together in this area until Ray's passing in 2009. Ray and Marguerite were married 69 years.
Kenneth Kay Selee passed away quietly last week from complications of dementia and neuropathy at the age of 83. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Selee and their three children; Steven Roy Selee, Douglas Kay Selee, and Lisa Ann (Selee) Brugger.

Ben was born in Oakland, CA to Lorenzo and Delores Quezada and passed away at the age of 57 in Modesto. Family was Ben's life and he treasured time spent with them. He attended Family Life Center and had dedicated his life to God. Ben enjoyed his job as a pipe fitter. He was a giving man who loved helping others and was known to literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
Doris, affectionately known as "GG" to many, was born to Egnar and Elvira Gunnarson in Minnesota and passed away at the age of 98 in Turlock. She was a member of Crossroads Church for many years where she helped with Awana. She was very involved in the community volunteering with Memorial Hospitals Foundation, The Salvation Army and the Ladies Auxiliary at Emanuel Hospital. Doris enjoyed Turlock Little League where she volunteered her time and was recently named Turlock Little League's Fan of The Year. She was an avid San Francisco Giants fan.
Bill Martin was born in Turlock, CA to Eddie and Myrtle Martin. He attended Sacred Heart School and Turlock High School. He joined the Navy in 1964. While enlisted, he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Air Station, just outside of Chicago, Illinois, where he met his first wife Wendy Breeden at a dance.
