Emma (Erma) Warda Morris, who passed away at the age of 83, was laid to rest on Jan. 20. A Memorial Mass in her honor will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave., Turlock. Arrangements were entrusted with Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emma's memory to USO.org.

Bobby Lee Defrance, 55, of Coalinga, died Feb. 24. He was a correctional sergeant for 22 years. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 at Faith Fellowship in Coalinga. Michael Wayne Kennemer
Michael Kennemer was born in Texas, the son of James and Peggy Kennemer. The family moved to Alameda, Calif. when Michael was young and he attended school and graduated from Encinal High School in Alameda. He worked for 30 years in road construction as a partner with his father. Together they worked on many roads in the Santa Clara County area. Later he worked as an estimator for Paving Construction Company in the San Jose area.

Carolyn was born in 1934 to Charles and Irma Vernia in Carlisle, Ind. Later the family moved to California, where she graduated from Bell High School in 1952. She was married to the late Earl "Bud" Stevens on June 27, 1953. Carolyn was a member of Monte Vista Chapel.

Gene Peter Dias, 57, of Oakdale, died June 23 in Oakdale. He was born in 1954 in Boston, Mass. He was a tax auditor for the government for 20 years.
Mary Rachel Caperton
Mary Caperton, 73, passed away June 27, 2011, at her residence in Keyes. She was born August 1937, in Oklahoma and came to Bakersfield at the age of 4. She lived in the Tulare and Visalia areas before settling in Keyes 45 years ago. She worked for Del Monte Foods and then Tri-Valley Growers. She enjoyed ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, attending the churches in Keyes, and working with elderly people at the convalescent hospitals.
Maxine “GiGi” Wente
Wanda Maxine Wente passed away at the age of 77 in Turlock. She was born in Fletcher, Okla. and later settled in California where she graduated from Ceres High School and later settled in Turlock.

Effa May Corker, 76, of Turlock, died June 2 in Turlock. She was born September 1934 in Colorado. She was a secretary for Sharp Army Depot for 14 years and a member of Pentecostal Church of Keyes.

Ida Lois Haney, 87, passed away June 16 at Memorial Hospital in Modesto. She was born November 1923, in Tennessee to the late John and Ollie Pfluger. She settled in Turlock 51 years ago. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall-Jehovah's Witness in Turlock. She enjoyed gambling in Boomtown, sewing, cooking and gardening.

Corinne Elizabeth Almeida was born June 1 and passed away peacefully on June 22. During her short life of 21 days, she touched many lives and was, and always will be, deeply loved by family and friends. She will be remembered for her strength and gorgeous ocean-blue eyes.

Robert "Bob" Stern
Robert "Bob" Stern was a third generation San Franciscan; his mother and grandmother were survivors of the 1906 earthquake. Robert received his education for electrical engineering during his time in the Army and also at UC Berkeley. He died peacefully at the age of 85 in his home in Oakdale. He was a member of AARP and American Legion.
