Pastor Doice L. McAlister
The family of Doice McAlister announces his peaceful passing on April 27 in Turlock. He was 80 years old. Born in Asher, Okla., the family moved to California in 1946, where Doice graduated high school in Kerman in 1948. Later, he served in the Army and was a decorated soldier during the Korean War. Doice returned to Kerman where he met the love of his life, Deanna Reynolds. They were married on July 22, 1954.
Joe P. Lemos
Joe Lemos, 79, of Turlock, died April 13 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 3 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. Rosary and Mass are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Ave., Hilmar. Burial will be at North Hilmar Cemetery.
Vernon “Vern” Lee Sivils
Vernon Sivils was born in Modesto and raised in Turlock. He attended grade school in Japan, El Centro and Turlock, graduating from Turlock High in 1964 where he played in the Pep Band.
Lucille Deloris Marietta
Lucille Marietta passed away Monday after a short illness. She was born in North Fork, Neb. in March 1911 to Charles and Sigrid Olds. The family moved to Turlock in 1927. She had many hobbies; her greatest joy was bowling and she carried a 128 average at the young age of 93. She also enjoyed roller skating in six inch heels when she was younger. Filomena Canto Lourenco
Filomena Canto Lourenco, 66, of Atwater, died Wednesday in Atwater. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. A Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 6 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1799 Winton Way, Atwater. Rosary will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
Lena Mary Pulido
Lena Mary Pulido, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 25 in Hughson at Alexander Cohen Hospice. Lena was born October 1928 in Niles to Joe S. and Anna Pacheco from Santa Maria, Azores. Lena was the youngest of four children, speaking only Portuguese until the first grade. She lived on her family farm in the Hayward area and attended schools in the Bay Area.

Loretta Zanos, 70, of Delhi, passed away at home on Sunday, April 25. She was born in Turlock to Harry and Lucy Carlson in 1940. Loretta lived her entire life in Turlock. She graduated from Turlock High School in 1958. In the same year, she was named Miss Turlock. Merete Clardy was born and raised in Odense, Denmark. She moved to Bakersfield in 1958, before settling in Turlock in 1981. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and worked for Budget Self Storage for 23 years. Merete enjoyed quilting, knitting, painting and raising her grandkids. God and family were her life.

Jack Rosevear
Jack Kenneth Rosevear was called to Heaven by his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 3. All his family and friends will miss him dearly. Jack was born in Lead, S.D. on June 10, 1923. He moved to Mill Valley, Calif. with his parents, John Charles Rosevear "Jack" and Iris Isabelle Thompson Rosevear, a year later. He graduated from Mt. Tamalpais High School and worked in the ship yard with his brother, William Alfred "Nick," during World War II in Sauselito.

She was a teacher's aide for Turlock Unified School District for 20 years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Turlock and Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock, S.P.R.S.I. Council 151 of Hilmar and Y.L.I. St. Patrick's Institute #223 of Hilmar. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, spending time with family and watching golf and NASCAR racing.

Effa May Corker, 76, of Turlock, died June 2 in Turlock. She was born September 1934 in Colorado. She was a secretary for Sharp Army Depot for 14 years and a member of Pentecostal Church of Keyes.
