Shirley was born to Otto and Dorothy Johnson July 15, 1935 at Escanaba Michigan and left our world on July 2, 2016 at Turlock CA. Shirley came to Hilmar in 1952 where she has reside since. December 20, 1952 she married the love of her life Eric Nelson (deceased) from Hilmar. Soon after their marriage Eric left for the Korean War, after his return they had 4 children. Survivors include sister-in-law Diana Whitener of Tennessee, Kathryn (Kevin) James of Bakersfield CA, Barbara Reed of Hilmar CA, Eric P. Nelson Monterey CA, and Gloria (Morrie) London of Twain Harte CA.
Carol L. Dutra, 82, of Denair, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Carol was born February of 1934 in Minneapolis to William and Esther Prehm and lived in Washington before settling in Hilmar, CA. She met Elmer Dutra at a Portuguese Festa dance and they were married in September of 1951 in Carson City, Nevada. The couple lived in Turlock when their three children were born.
Ruth Louise Hamstad, 95, of Turlock, went to her Heavenly home on June 20, 2016 at Covenant Village in Turlock. Ruth was married to Norman Hamstad on February 1, 1941 in Turlock who preceded her in death in 2006.
Bill Walters, 79, of Turlock, was born in Modesto to William E. and Virginia (Bostrom) Walters. He graduated from Turlock High in 1954 and soon after went to work for Patton Music Co., later managing the Lake Tahoe branch. Upon returning to Turlock he became owner-operator of Central Valley Music, as well as Staley's Club for 23 years until his retirement. He was a member of Denair Lions Club.
Crystal lost her battle with brain cancer. She was born in Oregon and moved to California 20 years ago. She was the first person in her family to earn a Bachelor's Degree and then went onto earning a Master's Degree in History, the subject she loved. She will be missed by many. Jeriel Blaylock passed away at Hylond Healthcare in Modesto, CA after a long illness. While in the Navy he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in Vietnam from 1965-1969. After his discharge, Jeriel spent the next 25 years working for Stover Masonry and Emerald Construction Inc. until he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She has left behind two loving and devoted daughters, Kathy and Cindy, and four grandchildren, Mike, Kyle, Katie and Christie. Born in Bison, Kansas on May 2, 1923 to Philip and Magdalena Kaiser, Mae lived the most modern of lives. She attended business school which led to a career as a legal secretary in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Francisco Gerardo Padilla age 48, passed away Wednesday June 8, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center, he was born in San Antonio Texas, and moved to Sunnyvale California in 1968. Francisco is survived his Daughter- Cynthia Acosta, Granddaughter- Melodie, Parents- Gerardo Padilla and Maria Guadalupe Padilla, Brother- Luis Padilla, Nephew- Santiago Padilla and Niece- Janessa Padilla. Ricky passed away peacefully at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was a graduate of Turlock High School, Class of '64, where he was voted "Most Beautiful Eyes" and attended Modesto Junior College for a time. He married Susan Peters in 1966.
