Edward Dennis Meyer
Edward Meye, 71, of Denair, lost his battle with cancer at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born to Edward H. and Elizabeth Meyer in Oakland. After his high school graduation, Edward attended trade school and got his start as an auto mechanic. For many years he ran his own business specializing in the repair of imported cars. In 1958 he married Irene Francis. They were married for 47 years before her death in 2005.

Former Turlock schools superintendent dies in bike accident at age 78
Denton Palmer, superintendent of Turlock Schools from 1982 until his retirement in 1992, was killed in a bicycling accident last week a few miles from his home on Whidbey Island in Washington.

Genevieve "Vee" Baptista, 97, passed away Feb. 14 in San Diego. Genevieve was born and raised in Hughson to parents Joe and Conceicao Baptista. She married Enos Baptista in 1930, and was married for 55 years until he passed away. In 1940, Enos and Genevieve moved to Los Banos where they started a life of farming. Emma Pauline Gioletti, 93, was born in Chowchilla and passed away Friday at her home in Turlock surrounded by her devoted family.
Janelle Noemi Godinez
Janelle Noemi Godinez was born on June 28, 1977, in Watsonville to Jose and Amada Godinez. She was the loving sister of Jose, Sandra, Robert, Sophia, Francisco and Daniel Godinez. Janelle is survived by son, Andrew Sanchez. She was a loving aunt to many nephew and nieces. She also leaves behind many friends and relatives. Janelle will be greatly missed.
Geneva Chachanian
Geneva J. Chachanian , 68, was born on Jan. 31, 1943, in Al Habaniya, Iraq, and passed away on Feb.20. She was a wonderful mother and the greatest grandmother in the world. She was the greatest loving, caring, nurturing mother, sister, spouse, and most of all a great teacher and a listener.

Burton Young Nance
Burton Nance, 79, of Turlock, was born to Leonard and Willie Nance in Oklahoma City. He was a high school graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He married Patricia Marler in July of 1975. He passed away at Bel Air Lodge Convalescent Hospital in Turlock.
Gayle Norman Pinkney
Gayle Norman Pinkney of San Jose passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76 on Feb. 11, 2011 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital at Santa Teresa.
Ricardo Sanchez, Jr.
Ricardo Sanchez, Jr. was born on Sept. 13, 1976, in Salinas, Calif. to Irma and Ricardo Sanchez, Sr. He was the loving brother of Miguel, Jose and Sonia Sanchez. Ricardo is survived by his children, Dominic, Gabriel and Andrew Sanchez. He was a loving uncle to Adrian and Leena Sanchez. He also leaves behind many friends and relatives. Ricardo will be greatly missed.

Hazel Lorene Ward, 88, of Turlock, died Feb. 15 in Turlock. She was born in 1922 in Dardanelle, Ark. She was a nurse's aide for 14 years and a member of Free Will Baptist Church of Turlock.

Aiden Loucks lost his battle with RSV on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Valley Children's Hospital in Madera. He was 2 1/2 years old. Marvin Ernest Jr.
Marvin Ernest, 67, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House on Monday. Marvin went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer. Marvin owned and operated AAA Sewing Machine in Modesto for 22 years and was in the business for 45 years. Time with family and riding his Harley were his favorite things. He will be remembered for his gentle manner and deep soft voice. His kindness touched many lives.

Owen Joseph Stauber, 82, of Turlock, passed away Tuesday, June 14 at Emanuel Medical Center.
Louie Joseph Peters
Louie Joseph Peters, 91, of Turlock, died on June 12. Louie was born in Pescadero, Calif. to Manuel and Bazelina Peters. He trained for a year as a professional ballroom dancer by the famous Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the 1940s. Latin ballroom dance was Louie's forte. Louie and his wife of 59 years, Alta, were ballroom dancers and members of the Modesto Ballroom and the VFW.

Bill R. Sousa, 61, of Hilmar, was born on Jan. 17, 1950, in Cinco Ribeiras, Terceira, Azores and passed away on June 11 in Hilmar.

Helen Ruth (Hunter) Bishop, a native of Turlock, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, after a short illness. She was 84.
Michael Wigt
Michael J. Wigt, 24, passed away suddenly and tragically on June 14, 2011. He was born in Modesto to John Wigt and Carlene (Johnson) Wigt on Jan. 12, 1987. Michael had two brothers, John and Samuel.

Francisco Coelho Costa, 87, of Turlock, died June 11 in Turlock. He was born in June 1923 in Altares, Terceira, Azores. He worked in the dairy and food processing industry and was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock. He enjoyed gardening and vacationing in the Azores.
Georgia Dean Hocker
Georgia was born in Coalinga, Calif. to Charles and Pearl Mallory in 1919. She enjoyed reading, working on needlework and singing as a soprano in the choir.
Debbie Sue Sensabaugh
Debbie Sue Sensabaugh, 41, of Los Banos, died in a local hospital. She was a native of Modesto and attended Downey High School. Debbie was a homemaker and also worked at an auction yard. She enjoyed dancing and singing with her sisters and family.

Charan was born in India in 1932 to Guras and Mahen. He worked in India as a farmer before coming to the United States in 1979, with the rest of his family following in 1981.

Fred J. Sigrist, 90, passed away June 11 at his residence in Turlock. He was born August 1920, in Switzerland to the late Alfred and Rosa Sigrist. He was raised in Imperial Valley, and lived in Modesto

A memorial and burial service for Dallas E. Smith will be conducted, at graveside, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18 under the direction of the Turlock Memorial Park.
Michael Joseph Lapineg
Michael Joseph Lapineg, 62, of Turlock, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served. He was a cement mason for the Local Union #300. He attended the Enclave Christian Church.
