The youngest daughter of the town Blacksmith, Neomi, was born in the first house built in Hilmar Township, which still stands today. Terrence Eugene McSweeney, age 73, passed away at his home in Turlock on August 25th. Terry was born to Eugene and Bette McSweeney in Oakland, CA. Terry was a graduate of Hilmar High School and lived most of his life in Hilmar and Turlock. Terry had many friends and with his outgoing personality, made friends easily. He had a long career in the construction business, ultimately owning two successful construction firms in the area. She was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, then moved to California in 1950 upon marrying Henry Morrett and earning her nursing degree. She worked in hospitals for 19 years and another 10 years as an aerospace industry nurse in southern California. Julia was born in Chicago, IL to Samuel and Nanajon Yohannan and passed away in Turlock at the age of 85. She settled in Turlock at the age of fifteen and graduated from Turlock High School. In 1957 she married Brad Sleeper and they shared 57 years of marriage. Julia was passionate about her Assyrian community and actively involved in and treasurer for the Assyrian American Civic Club of Turlock. Hijinia R. Maldonado, our beautiful and beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was called home to heaven on August 1st. She was born on January 22, 1928 in Jerez, Zacatecas in Mexico, where she met the only love of her life Jose C. Maldonado in 1946 and then married him on February 5, 1947. Hijinia was loving, kind, warm, hardworking, and loved her family with all of her heart. She and her husband were members of Sacred Heart Church in Turlock.

She is survived by her son, David Yonan, and daughter, Dina Yonan Gehring, her two sisters, Lillian Pera Abraham and Mariam Pera Miroo, and brother-in-law Albert D. Miroo. Shara Nickole Valadez, 21, died September 9, 2014. She was born December 10, 1992, in Salinas, California to Moises Alvarez and Sandra G. Alvarez. She grew up in Salinas until grade 4 when the family moved to the Central Valley. Shara attended Wakefield School, Dutcher School and Turlock High where she met the love of her life and future husband Chris Valadez. She attended Merced College as an Ag Business Major and worked at Home Depot. She is preceded in death by her brother Moses Alvarez, and Grandfather Guadalupe Alvarez.
