Kenneth Kay Selee passed away quietly last week from complications of dementia and neuropathy at the age of 83. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Selee and their three children; Steven Roy Selee, Douglas Kay Selee, and Lisa Ann (Selee) Brugger.
Mrs. Maria Alvarina Souto passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, January 12, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was 66 years old and was born in Pedro Miguel, Faial, Açores, to Jose and Alvarina Rosa. She had lived in the Turlock area for the last 44 years. She battled like a warrior against cancer for over 21 years, especially the last five years.
Ben was born in Oakland, CA to Lorenzo and Delores Quezada and passed away at the age of 57 in Modesto. Family was Ben's life and he treasured time spent with them. He attended Family Life Center and had dedicated his life to God. Ben enjoyed his job as a pipe fitter. He was a giving man who loved helping others and was known to literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
Doris, affectionately known as "GG" to many, was born to Egnar and Elvira Gunnarson in Minnesota and passed away at the age of 98 in Turlock. She was a member of Crossroads Church for many years where she helped with Awana. She was very involved in the community volunteering with Memorial Hospitals Foundation, The Salvation Army and the Ladies Auxiliary at Emanuel Hospital. Doris enjoyed Turlock Little League where she volunteered her time and was recently named Turlock Little League's Fan of The Year. She was an avid San Francisco Giants fan.
Bill Martin was born in Turlock, CA to Eddie and Myrtle Martin. He attended Sacred Heart School and Turlock High School. He joined the Navy in 1964. While enlisted, he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Air Station, just outside of Chicago, Illinois, where he met his first wife Wendy Breeden at a dance. The family was on their way from Waterford to the Methodist Church in Modesto when his mother said, "We better stop at the hospital." Diana Lynn Campiotti, a beautiful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away after a lengthy illness. Diana loved her family with all of her heart. From an early age, she developed a passion for rescuing dogs that continued throughout her entire life. Diana loved to travel and went on many trips with family and friends. Glenn Yates passed away peacefully at Garden City Health Care Center in Modesto on January 5, 2017. He was 79 and a long time resident of Denair. Glenn was born to James and Athalone Yates July 16, 1937 in Kenova, West VA. He came to California in the 1960s and owned and operated a septic tank company for over 30 years.
Dorothy E. Sorrell, of Turlock, passed away peacefully at her home after a long and valiant battle with cancer. The youngest child of James and Mary Hornbeck, Dorothy was raised on the family ranch in Stevinson, attending schools there and in Hilmar where she was very active in sports and band. She continued to cherish friendships from her school days.
