After high school he went to work for Sorenson's Poultry Farm and Foster Farms where he worked as a forklift driver for five years. They married and moved to Turlock in January of 1950. She was a homemaker, and raised three sons: Larry, Don, and Rick. Bernice was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband Bob.
