Polly Crockett, 94, of Turlock, was born in Handley, Texas to Henry and Essie Pearcy. She grew up in Texas and Oklahoma and married the love of her life, Luther D. Crockett, on Dec. 25, 1932 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Together they raised three daughters. The family moved to Southern California in 1938, where Luther worked on a dairy. They moved to Hilmar and owned a vineyard for a time. Harold W. “Butch” Estes
Harold Estes, 57, of Turlock, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday. He was born in Fresno and raised in Delhi. Since early in his life, Harold was interested in outdoor living: hunting, fishing and living off the land. At one time he was even given the nickname "Mountain" reflecting his love for the mountains. He worked as a handyman and did odd jobs, sold firewood, and supported himself in a variety of ways in order to spend more time in the outdoors that he loved.
Doris June Ross
Doris June Ross passed away on April 3, 2010, at the Franciscan Convalescent Hospital in Merced. Mrs. Ross was born in Warren, Ohio in 1926, where she received her associate's degree in Education. Mrs. Ross lived in Florida, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia before she settled in Merced in 1987. She was a substitute teacher for 15 years.

Pete Canning, 84, of Turlock, passed away on Tuesday, March 30 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Pete was a native of New Jersey and a resident of the Modesto, Ceres and Turlock areas for 82 years. He was a mechanic with Wilson Ford and Mercury, and then Dow-Hammond Trucks until his retirement. Ruben R. Flores passed away unexpectedly this week. He was born in 1960 to parents, Enrique and Isabella Flores in Colorado. He married his wife, Lidia, 25 years ago and they settled in Modesto where they had two children. He was a very hard working and intelligent man. He worked as a plumber, roofer and landscaper. He enjoyed fishing on his boat and loved his kids and grandkids. He had a beautiful heart and loved sharing God's word with everyone he met.

Lily Yohannan, 88, of Turlock, passed away in San Jose at Good Samaritan Hospital. Lily was born in Iran to Avshalim and Soria Shlemoon, and came to the U.S. in 1963 with her late husband, Darius Yohannan, who was a minister for the St. John Assyrian Presbyterian Church for many years.

Bellmeda (Belle) Bettincourt, 88, passed away on Wednesday at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Mrs. Bettincourt was a native of Hughson. She attended Hughson schools and Modesto Junior College. Belle lived in Modesto for 58 years then moved back to Hughson in 2004, as a resident of Samaritan Village.
James LaVerne Birdsong
LaVerne Birdsong, 85, of Ceres, passed away early Wednesday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. She was born in Tulia, Texas to Jim and Cora Pearson and attended schools in Texas before moving to California in 1940. She worked for years in the food processing industry and was involved with plant management as well as driving fork lifts.
