Burton Nance, 79, of Turlock, was born to Leonard and Willie Nance in Oklahoma City. He was a high school graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He married Patricia Marler in July of 1975. He passed away at Bel Air Lodge Convalescent Hospital in Turlock.

Ricardo Sanchez, Jr.

Ricardo Sanchez, Jr. was born on Sept. 13, 1976, in Salinas, Calif. to Irma and Ricardo Sanchez, Sr. He was the loving brother of Miguel, Jose and Sonia Sanchez. Ricardo is survived by his children, Dominic, Gabriel and Andrew Sanchez. He was a loving uncle to Adrian and Leena Sanchez. He also leaves behind many friends and relatives. Ricardo will be greatly missed.

Hazel Lorene Ward, 88, of Turlock, died Feb. 15 in Turlock. She was born in 1922 in Dardanelle, Ark. She was a nurse's aide for 14 years and a member of Free Will Baptist Church of Turlock.

Aiden Travis Loucks

Aiden Loucks lost his battle with RSV on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Valley Children's Hospital in Madera. He was 2 1/2 years old. In that short time he changed our lives for the better and brightened our world. He loved music, dancing, French fries and going for rides in the truck. When he wasn't watching his favorite television show "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy," he loved playing outside and chasing bubbles. He has taken a piece of our hearts to heaven with him and will be missed.

Joann McDuffie, 76, of Turlock, passed away at Brandel Manor. Joann was born in Arkansas to Garner and Lois. At the age of 12 she and her family relocated to Richmond, where her parents found work in the shipyards during World War II. Joann was married in 1959 to Rueal H. McDuffie, a native of Georgia and a Naval veteran of World War II. Leilah Stone, 96, of Turlock, passed away on Feb. 12 at Bel Air Lodge Convalescent Hospital. She was born in St. Joe, Mo. to Frank and Florence McCumber in 1914. At the age of six, her family moved to Los Angeles. In 1953, she moved to Bishop. She lived in Lakeport for 10 years and then Turlock for about six years. Vernon Burrell entered into rest, at the age of 78 years, on Feb. 3, 2011, ending a long struggle with illness. Michael Kennemer was born in Texas to James and Peggy Kennemer. The family moved to Alameda when Michael was young and he attended school and graduated from Encinal High School in Alameda. Sherry Lee Wayman

Sherry Lee Wayman, 47, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center after a long battle with illness. She was a lifelong resident of this area since she was born in Modesto and lived her life in Stanislaus County. She went to Downey High School in Modesto and was married to George D. Henry for several years. Sherry loved music and loved to sing, she enjoyed casinos, and she loved to ride her Harley. Her family tells how she loved to go to church, too. She also did some commercial cleaning when her health allowed.

Mary Lois Bare

Mary Lois Bare, 91, of Hilmar, passed away at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mary Lois was born in Arkansas to Julius and Thelma Wegel. She attended schools in Arkansas. After High School graduation she married Charles Bare, a Seaman with the Merchant Marine. They settled in California, first in the Bay Area and then in the Central Valley in 1968. They were married nearly 62 years when he passed away in 2005.

Bobbie Cheves, 87, of Turlock passed away peacefully on February 18, 2015. Bobbie was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma. When she was young, her family moved to Pittsburg, CA. As a senior in high school, Bobbie moved to Modesto where she graduated from Modesto High School. She married Gene in 1947 and they raised their family in Ceres, CA.
