Ron was born in Turlock to Victor and Clara Carlson, and passed away at the age of 85. He was a graduate of Turlock High School, class of 1950. Ron was a veteran of the US Air Force, stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict. He worked in Turlock for 39 years at Thorsen's and he was the past assistant chief with Turlock Rural Fire Department. Ron was a member of New Life Christian Center since 1976. He was also a member of Turlock VFW Post 5059 and American Legion.
Thomas Roy Ingebretson, 89, of Modesto, passed away at Casa de Modesto. Thom was born in Leland, Iowa to Eli and Bertha Igebretson, grew up in Forest City, IA and graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City, IA with an Associate Degree in Architecture. He married Helen Hartman in Feb. of 1957 in Fairmont, MN in a double wedding with friends Donna and Dick Swanson. Esther Johnson passed away on Sept 5,2016 at Casa de Modesto, a caring and loving community. She was born in Jasper MN Feb 20, 1912 to Frederick and Carrie Solsaa Lee. Esther graduated from Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls S.D. in 1934. She then moved to Stockton CA and started work at Dameron Hospital. She joined the Army Nurses Corp in 1943 and was stationed in London England for two years. Esther returned to Stockton and continued working until she married Erland (Val) Johnson and moved to Modesto. They were married for 49 years.
Alfred Lonnie Bennett peacefully passed to his heavenly home surrounded by family and friends at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. He graduated from Livingston High School and Modesto Junior College. After his schooling, he enjoyed his time in the army where he saw places he never would have seen otherwise. Lonnie spent most of his working career at Gemperle Enterprises where he retired as the office manager.
Theresa was born in Kentucky to Alexander and Julianna Fejes in 1923 and passed away in Hilmar at the age of 93. As a young adult she lived in various areas where she studied art in New York and sang in a Hungarian church choir in Connecticut. She settled in the Merced county area, married her husband Anthony Kiss and together they had four children.
Mr. Delbert Edward Dequine (Del) was born in San Francisco, CA. From there his family moved to Marysville, CA where he lived until the age of six. His family relocated once again and finally settled in Concord, CA where he grew up through the challenging times of the great depression, graduating from Concord High School, and excelling in variety of sports including track and field, swimming and diving, and football. Charles Lester Holmes was born in March of 1944 in Modesto, California. He lived in Salida and attended local schools. He worked at the local drive-in theater while attending Modesto High School. Upon graduating, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for most of his tour of duty.
Stanley Charles Johnson, 76, passed away at his Turlock home. Stanley was born in Turlock to Albert and Edith Johnson. He grew up in Turlock. He met and married Linda Ann Johnson. Stan worked for over 30 years for International Paper in Turlock. He attended Turlock Covenant Church and First Christian Church in Turlock. He had lots of friends and enjoyed meeting for coffee and fellowship. He served his country as a member of the California National Guard.
Shirley was born in Tug Hollow, West Virginia to Virginia Simpkins and Vivian Simpkins truly a coal miner's daughter. She was the oldest of four. Two Sisters and one Brother. Surviving sister, Vivian Feysa and deceased sister Freda Zarlino and brother, Carl Simpkins. Shirley was a musically talented person having picked up the clarinet at a very early age starting in 4th grade. She became very accomplished playing first chair and maintaining straight A's in her later high school years.
Harvey was born Jan. 16, 1920 in Emery, SD. He passed away peacefully in his home on Aug. 20, 2016. He graduated from McCook County School in Emery, SD in 1934. Harvey was a farmer his entire life. He married Louise R. Fluth on Sept. 20, 1940. They had five children. Harvey and Louise moved from Emery to Turlock, CA in 1970 where they farmed and operated a dairy for many years. Harvey enjoyed livestock and farm auctions, going fishing and playing cards. His face lit up when he saw his grandkids.
