An inspiring woman, Vangie J. Hartvickson 63, of Turlock passed away on Jan. 5, 2011.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1947, in Ogden, Utah to wonderful parents, Joe Chris and Margaret Sandoval. Her younger years were spent laughing, singing, dancing and, yes, fighting with her sisters. She spent many hours with a salt shaker in her hand belting out tunes and breaking vases with her dance moves. Vangie attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated in 1965. Although she was one of the quieter daughter's, Vangie kept the nuns and priests on their toes.

Mark L. Richesin

Mark Richesin, 50, of Lake Don Pedro passed away at Mercy Hospital in Merced. Mark was born in Stockton to Carl and Carol Richesin, later moving to the Modesto area. In 1983, Mark became employed at the Weyerhaeuser Paper/Ip Company; he served 27 dedicated years there. In 1990, Mark met Sandra Morris, whom would become the love of his life; they were married in 1992. Mark and Sandy moved to La Grange in 2000, where they settled in and made their home. She was born March 8, 1954 in Clint, Texas. She was a bus driver for 17 years and she enjoyed crafts, reading, loved her animals and spending time with friends and family.

Claudine Leverett, 86, of Turlock passed away at Elness Convalescent Hospital on Jan. 4. She was born in Bellville, Ariz. to Thomas and Susan Cashion in 1924. She lived in Arizona and moved to Manteca in the early 1950s. In the early 90s, she moved to Modesto and three years ago moved to Turlock. She was a member of the Assembly of God churches and traveled helping the evangelists. She enjoyed family, gardening, walking and traveling the world.

Arthur Eugene Gilstrap

Arthur Eugene Gilstrap, 90, of Turlock died Jan. 4, 2011, at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock. Mr. Gilstrap was born August 1920, in Oklahoma, to the late John and Lula Gilstrap. He came to Marysville, Calif. at the age of 16 during the Depression. He was an operating engineer for 50 years. He settled in Turlock 10 years ago. He was an avid fisherman.

Richard Stephen Lear

Richard Lear was born to Duke and Delphine Lear in Pascagoula, Miss. The 11th of 12 children, Richard learned early about the value of hard work and the meaning of family which served him well through his life. Richard loved and served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. After returning to Mississippi at the end of his service, Richard took a job as a carpenter and remained in that trade for 20 years.

Rodney Dean "Rod" Geving, 61, Dickinson, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., after losing his battle with cancer. Services for Rodney will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, New England, with Rev. Bruce Peterson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Rainy Butte Cemetery, south of New England. Military honors will be provided by the New England American Legion Anton Ulijohn Post 66. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
