Linda Lee Beckhart

Linda Beckhart, 59, of Ceres, lost her long battle with cancer at Memorial Medical Center. The daughter of William and Doris Mason, Linda was born in Sebring, Ohio and began her schooling there. When she was 11 years old the family moved to Compton. They lived in Southern California where she met and married Robert Beckhart in December 1970. Linda had a gift for working with numbers and worked as bookkeeper for 25 years with Kraft Foods and for Central Valley Auto Body Shop.

Bernard Lopez

Ben Lopez, 79, died suddenly on Wednesday at his residence in Newman. Mr. Lopez was born and raised in San Leandro. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1951, and reenlisted in the United States Army in 1952. He earned several medals, including Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After his Honorable Discharge in 1960 he worked for Patcar Inc. as a foreman for 25 years. Ben settled in Newman in 1990 and enjoyed camping.

David was born in San Francisco to Leslie and Kathleen Mealing in 1955. He lived in Stanislaus County for the last four years. David enjoyed riding his Harley and working on anything mechanical, as well as playing poker.

Robert was a native of Turlock. He worked in the melon industry for many years and later in life owned his own business as a commercial fisherman. His last employment was with Heckendorf's Auto, from which he retired.

Almeda Shea, 71, of Modesto, passed away at home surrounded by her family. Almeda was born in Rush Springs, Okla. to Theodore and Lorene Payne. She and her family relocated to California during the Dust Bowl period in 1942.
