Glenda Barreto, 71, of Patterson, passed away on Saturday at her home in her much-loved art studio. She was born in Sacramento to Glenn and Anne Fry in 1940. She was raised in Dixon, and moved to Patterson around 1973, where she had a 30-year career as a teacher. Most of those years were spent at Grayson Elementary. James Sweeten, 82, of Turlock, passed away on Saturday, June 18 at Bel-Air Lodge Convalescent Hospital. He was born in Okemah, Okla. to Herman and Winnie Sweeten in 1928. He was raised there until his teens, when the family moved to the Hilmar in 1944. In 1948, he married Mary Ann Davis. William Andrew Sandberg, 83, died June 7 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a former resident of Turlock and a chemical engineer. A funeral was held at La Paloma Funeral Services, and a cremation followed.

Marvin Ernest, 67, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House on Monday. Marvin went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer. Marvin owned and operated AAA Sewing Machine in Modesto for 22 years and was in the business for 45 years. Time with family and riding his Harley were his favorite things. He will be remembered for his gentle manner and deep soft voice. His kindness touched many lives.

Louie Joseph Peters, 91, of Turlock, died on June 12. Louie was born in Pescadero, Calif. to Manuel and Bazelina Peters. He trained for a year as a professional ballroom dancer by the famous Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the 1940s. Latin ballroom dance was Louie's forte. Louie and his wife of 59 years, Alta, were ballroom dancers and members of the Modesto Ballroom and the VFW.

Francisco Coelho Costa, 87, of Turlock, died June 11 in Turlock. He was born in June 1923 in Altares, Terceira, Azores. He worked in the dairy and food processing industry and was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock. He enjoyed gardening and vacationing in the Azores.

Cheryl was called home by the Lord 11:11AM on April 7, 2014. She passed peacefully away with her husband and family all around her at Alexander Cohen Hospice in Hughson.
Jim was born in Turlock, California on April 18, 1922 and passed away on April 16, 2014 at the age of 91. After graduating from Turlock High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served under General George S. Patton during World War II.
Ron "Ronnie" Enos passed away peacefully on April 4, 2014 in his sleep at home after a short battle with cancer surrounded by those he loved. Ron and his wife Pam resided at "Enos Ranch" here in Mariposa for the past 12 years after moving from Oakdale where he lived for 26 years. He retired from Lawrence Livermore National Lab in 2001, as a Lab Assistant. Ron also operated Big Oak Stables for 17 years in Cull Canyon.
