Salvador M. Saavedra

Salvador Saavedra, 77, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at his home in Delhi following a brief fight against cancer. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Maria Elena Saavedra; his daughters, Lina and Sandy; his sons, Jaime, Salvador, Oscar and Juan Carlos; 19 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Mexico, the son of Francisco and Dolores Saavedra, he immigrated to the United States in February 1960, and resided in Oakland, Calif. Juan Manuel Rodriguez was born in Matamorros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on May 17, 1938. He came to California in 1956 searching for better employment opportunities. He passed into the arms of the Lord at his home in Delhi on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at the age of 72.

Evelyn A. Dunlop

Evelyn Ann Dunlop, 84, passed away peacefully in Modesto with her family by her side after an extended illness. She was born in Turlock to early Swedish settlers, Alvin and Hildur Erickson. Her grandfather, Peter Erickson, served as the first chairman of the board of trustees of Turlock High School when it was founded in 1906.

Malcolm G. Eddy

Malcolm Eddy, 89, died at his home in Turlock. He was born in Hamadan, Iran and spent 35 years working as an accountant for the National Iranian Oil Co. In 1977, he and his family emigrated to the U.S., settling in Turlock. Here he worked as an instructional aide for TUSD for 15 years, and he also worked at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds for 25 years.

Vladimir Antoniuk

Vladimir Antoniuk was born in the Ukraine on Feb. 13, 1935. At the age of three, his family moved to Argentina and he later immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s at the age of 24, where he attended seminary in Chicago. His first marriage was to Betty Yakimow and they adopted their first son, Daniel, in the late 60s.

Adrian Alfaro

Adrian Alfaro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, due to complications resulting from Zellweger's Syndrome, a peroxisomal disorder. He was two weeks shy of his third birthday. Adrian was a living angel here on earth and touched the lives of many in his short life. Although Adrian never spoke a word, or was able to walk, his smile and loving eyes changed the heart of everyone he met. Adrian has left us wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

Mary Ellen Battista, 89, passed away on Jan. 5, 2011.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church; ambassador for the Secure Horizons Insurance for years; and managed the brown bag and commodities food program give away with her friends in Turlock for 20 years. Unetta Bell (Coulson) was born in Texas on May 2, 1918. She peacefully passed away on Jan. 2, 2011 at the age of 92. For most of her adult life she resided in Turlock.

An inspiring woman, Vangie J. Hartvickson 63, of Turlock passed away on Jan. 5, 2011.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1947, in Ogden, Utah to wonderful parents, Joe Chris and Margaret Sandoval. Her younger years were spent laughing, singing, dancing and, yes, fighting with her sisters. She spent many hours with a salt shaker in her hand belting out tunes and breaking vases with her dance moves. Vangie attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated in 1965. Although she was one of the quieter daughter's, Vangie kept the nuns and priests on their toes.

Mark Richesin, 50, of Lake Don Pedro passed away at Mercy Hospital in Merced. Mark was born in Stockton to Carl and Carol Richesin, later moving to the Modesto area. In 1983, Mark became employed at the Weyerhaeuser Paper/Ip Company; he served 27 dedicated years there. Anne Shaw, 80, of Turlock, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Born in Oronogo, Missouri August 27, 1934 to Carroll and Maude Weathers, she spent much of her childhood in Bisbee Arizona before her family moved to Los Angeles following the death of her father. There, She graduated from Manual Arts High School, and attended college at Bob Jones University in South Carolina, where she began dating Donald Shaw.
