Marlys I. J. Gilbert passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 9:30am. Her viewing was at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral home on Friday, December 16th from 5pm to 7pm located at 286 West Main Street in Turlock. The memorial Services will be Saturday, December 17th at 11am in Berg Hall at Covenant Village of Turlock, located at 2125 North Olive Avenue. Internment will be at Turlock Memorial Park and memorials can be given to Turlock Covenant Church or the Benevolent Fund of Covenant Village of Turlock.

Lena Date, 90, of Turlock/Modesto, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson after a long illness. Lena was born in El Monte, CA to Harry and Yaeno Hananouchi. She grew up much of her time in Pescadero, CA. In 1942, during World War II, her family was relocated to Tanforan Race Track in San Bruno then later sent to an internment camp in Topaz, Utah for the duration of the war. Richard Allen Root

Richard Allen Root, 89, died September 18, 2014, at Elness Convalescent in Turlock. He was born March 21, 1925, in Los Angeles, California, to Frank and Emma (Berger) Root. At the age of 18 enlisted in the United States Army in the 558th Artillery Battalion. After his Honorable Discharge he settled in Turlock and attended Full Gospel Tabernacle before attending Victory Christian Church in Hilmar. He worked 25 years for Nulaid then retired from Martinez Plywood after 12 years.

Steve was welcomed into heaven on September 18, 2014 at age 64. Steve was born in New York to Willard and Gladys Kelly. Steve moved to Southern California when he was one year old and was a current resident of Turlock. Steve graduated from Manteca High School in 1969. He served in the US Navy for 3 years. Jay Jensen was born on January 28, 1933, in Luck, Wisconsin, and passed away surrounded by his family on September 17, 2014, in Turlock, California. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, but to many others he was known as the owner of the 7-Eleven on Geer Road in Turlock. He was a proud veteran who served in the Air Force in Tripoli from 1952 - 1956. Marie Livingston, 89, of Turlock, passed away peacefully at Brandel Manor. Marie was born in Martin, South Dakota to Neil and Bessie O'Blenness. She grew up in Wenatchee, Washington, graduating from Wenatchee High School. Marie married the love of her life, Oliver Livingston, in December of 1943 while he was in the Army Air Corps. She cared for their first-born daughter, Barbara, during Oliver's tour of duty in Europe during World War II. Her family grew to five lovely children who celebrate her life.

Kathryn Louise (Hendryx) Holder

Kathryn was born on May 6, 1927 to George and Bessie Hendryx in Salisaw OK. She came to Turlock, CA with her parents and brother, Jacob in 1942. She went to work for California Frozen Foods where she met Robert "Bob" Holder, the one and only love of her life. They were married on June 22, 1945 and spent 69 wonderful years together.
