John died Friday surrounded by family. A dynamic and loving man, John celebrated life and enjoyed it to the fullest. John was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Bertacchi and survived by his wife, Janice Segars, his sister Kathi Cunningham, his stepfather Roy Bertacchi, his two children Stephanie and Zachary and many loving family members and friends.
Raya was very loved and will be dearly missed by her loving family. She was born in Ukraine on April 15, 1929 to Avisha and Rebecca Ellia and passed on May 6, 2012. Raya leaves behind her loving husband Youshia Daniel; children Janet Daniel of Turlock, Tom Daniel of Turlock, Violet Deter of Santa Clara, Joanne Dailey of San Francisco, Mary Sarkis of Turlock and Wilma Dorliac of Santa Clara; sister Sona Pourkaldani; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
George Eisenhut of Turlock passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday May 3, 2012, while holding the hand of his only child, John. Six years ago the love of his life, Mildred Eisenhut, passed, and he was greatly comforted in his last days at the idea of reuniting with her in the afterlife.
Francisco "Frank" Salas, of Turlock, CA, passed away on Friday, April 20th, 2012. He was one of five siblings born to Jess and Loreda Salas. He is survived by his sister, Angie Salas, sons Anthony and Michael Salas and daughter Tatia Childers. Frank married the former Elaine Elick on 7/7/1985 and she preceded him in death.
George J. Heilman, was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to parents Lawrence and Mary Heilman. He grew up with seven sisters and four brothers on a Midwest wheat farm. George was later drafted to serve in the U.S. Army in the Ninth Armored Division, which was part of the third army serving in Europe during World War II. George returned home to North Dakota where he met and married his wife, Carol. They were married 65 years.
Linda John, 53, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Linda had lived her whole life with challenges. She was born in Spokane, WA, the first of two girls born to David and Valerie John. The family moved to California when Linda was two. When she was still very young, her father was killed in an auto accident. Her mother married Howard Lower a few years later and Linda grew up with a great love and respect for both of her parents, Howard "Poppa" and Valerie Lower. William Lawlis Pace died peacefully in his sleep Monday morning, April 23, 2012. He had celebrated his 103rd birthday February 27th. Lawlis was born in 1909 in Burkburnett, Texas. He was the second son of Myrtle and William Pace. He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Onetia and their infant son, Daphael Gene, his parents, sister Audrey Erwin, and two brothers, Marvin and Howard.
James Alvernaz was born April 22, 1947 in Turlock, California to Alfred Alvernaz and Bernice Alvernaz. He attended Turlock High school and Modesto Junior College. He worked at Turlock Christian School and Turlock Transit as a bus driver. He was a bus driver for 23 years. James (Jim) also was a farmer and grew pumpkins, watermelon , and hay. In 2010 he married his loving wife Marilyn Scott. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, coaching, watching baseball, and service to his community. Jim belonged to Masonic Lodge #395 -Turlock and was a member of Eastern Star in Ceres.
Pauline Myers, 80, passed away April 20. Born and raised in Turlock by parents Nettie and Thomas Mortimer, Pauline will be known as a proud mother, good friend, and loving wife. Pauline loved telling stories of growing up in Turlock with her sister Donna (Johnson) and brother William (Mortimer). She graduated from Turlock High School class of 1950 and later earned her Registered Nursing Degree from Modesto Junior College. She worked as a nurse for about 10 years. Born in Brawley, CA to his loving parents Roberto and Esperanza, Bob passed away on his birthday surrounded by his family and dear friends. On that day, family and friends celebrated his birthday as Bob would have celebrated any birthday. He had bravely undergone six months of intensive treatment for pancreatic cancer.
