Don Kelly Shackelford, age 66, passed away Monday, February 13th, 2017. He was born in Turlock, CA on June 24rd, 1950, son of Virginia Shackelford, and the late Kelly Shackelford. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1969. He was a member of the Country Cowboy Church in Sonora, CA. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed off-road vehicles as well. Our beloved Uncle Bob passed away February 6, 2017 at the age of 91 after a short illness. With much joy and a shout of "welcome home," he was greeted into Heaven by his Father God, parents Melvin and Beth Horine, sisters Annetta Cochran, June Thomson, Shirley Hill and nephew Dennis Cochran.
Our mother went to meet her Savior the morning of January 30th, 2017 in the comfort of her home at 92 years of age. Mildred was born at home in Turlock, CA to Esther and Carl Erickson. She met her husband, Bennett Carlson, through the Swedish Baptist Church in San Jose. Bennett and Mildred wed in 1943 and are survived by four children, Robert (Lynn) Carlson, Richard (Tamara) Carlson, Jana (Steve) Franci & Cheryl (Gary) Galloway. They have eleven grandchildren (Christa, Erin, Alex, Mitchell, Ben, Alicia, Stephanie, Karl, Katie, Megan, Ryan) and three great grandchildren (Paige, Morgan, Logan).
Mitsuyo Shiba passed peacefully February 10 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. She was born in San Francisco third of five children to Kimiyo and Sadata Handa. From 1942-1945 her family was relocated to Japanese internment camps in Topaz, Utah.
Joe D. Vasquez passed away at the age of 72 on Monday, February 13, 2017 while being in hospice care at home. Joe was born on March 10, 1944 in Merced, California, however, he resided in Turlock, Ca where he worked as a food processor. Joe married Alice Aviña on June 12, 1964, and later had two children; Cynthia and Kenneth Vasquez. Joe coached his son in little league and later his grandson as well. Joe is survived by his grandson, Alex Rase, who Joe never failed to support march in the marching band, as well as a granddaughter ...
Dallas Nester, 73, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Emanuel Hospital losing his battle with cancer. Dallas was born in Oklahoma and moved to Keyes, CA as a teenager. He later moved to Modesto where he was employed by Gallo Glass as a forklift operator where he later retired from. Dallas was a hard worker and enjoyed fishing and loved his family.
Vi was born in Turlock and went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 25. She was the youngest of five children born to Nils and Emma Swanson. She grew up on the farm in the Hilmar area and graduated from Hilmar High in 1944.
