Derek passed away tragically on Feb. 13 near Modesto at the age of 31. He was born in Turlock and was raised in Hilmar. He attended Hilmar schools and graduated in 1997. Michael Wayne Kennemer

Michael Kennemer was born in Texas to James and Peggy Kennemer. The family moved to Alameda when Michael was young and he attended school and graduated from Encinal High School in Alameda. He worked for 30 years in road construction as a partner with his father. Together they worked on many roads in the Santa Clara County area. Later he worked as an estimator for Paving Construction Company in the San Jose area.

Sherry Lee Wayman

Sherry Lee Wayman, 47, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center after a long battle with illness. She was a lifelong resident of this area since she was born in Modesto and lived her life in Stanislaus County. She went to Downey High School in Modesto and was married to George D. Henry for several years. Sherry loved music and loved to sing, she enjoyed casinos, and she loved to ride her Harley. Her family tells how she loved to go to church, too. She also did some commercial cleaning when her health allowed.

William "Bill" Palmer, 53, of Turlock, died Feb. 13 at his residence. Bill was born September 1957, in Artesia, to the late Calvin and Helen Palmer. He was raised in Norwalk, and lived in Whittier and Perris Lake before settling in Turlock eight years ago.

Vernon Leon Burrell

Vernon Burrell entered into rest at the age of 78, on Feb. 3, ending a long struggle with illness.
During his career Vernon worked for Fred Harvey Enterprise managing trading posts, hotels and cafes at the Grand Canyon and Cameron, Ariz. He worked for over 50 years in construction and retired as a general contractor. He supervised the construction of the new villages, schools, and village utilities for Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay and Barrow, Alaska. Charles Paul Brown

Charles Brown, 53, of Salida, passed away at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. He was born in Oklahoma to Joe and Christine Brown in 1957. Charlie was raised in Hughson and graduated from Hughson High School in 1975. He lived in the Central Valley for most of his life. Charlie enjoyed camping and music, but his passions were motorcycles, motorcycles runs and four wheeling.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Katie Brown of Modesto; grandchildren, Edward Mendes and Jada Mendes, both of Modesto; and sister, Phyllis Brown of Modesto. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ruby “Jean” Peterson

Jean was born in Erick, Okla. to Oscar and Molly Butts in 1924. She was raised in Texas and later settled in Turlock with her husband Frances Melvin Peterson. Frances and Jean raised their two children in Turlock on property they owned in the country. Jean was very involved in the PTA at Johnson Joint School where her children attended. Ann Gazulis

Ann Gazulis, 90, died Feb. 10 at Vintage Faire Nursing and Rehabilitation in Modesto. She was born November 1920 in Richmond, Va. to Andrew and Carry Bazacos. She moved to Oakdale in 1925. She married Peter Gazulis in 1939, and they lived in Modesto before settling in Turlock in 1964. She was a member of the Church of God – Faithful Flock.

Hilda (Bettencourt) Marson entered into her eternal reward on Wednesday at her home with her family at her bedside. She was born in Hilmar to Manuel and Mary Bettencourt and lived on the family dairy her entire life. She graduated from Hilmar High School in 1944. She worked for Souza's Propane and Furniture store while attending college to get her bachelor's degree in Education.

Lloyd Zimmerman, 81, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center. Lloyd was born in Kansas and spent some time moving around the U.S., from New York to California. In 1943, Lloyd joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country for approximately 13 years, including fighting for his country during WW II. New York is where he met the woman whom he would share his life with, Rose. They were married nearly 40 years before she passed away in 1992.

Marie Moore died of natural causes at her home in the loving embraces of her family.
Marie was born on Indian territory in Chouteau, Okla. She was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She relocated to Turlock in 1935 with her husband and son. Neta "Kay" Pinney, 70, passed away on Feb. 6, 2011, at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. She was born April 1940 in Oklahoma to the late Jack and Lizzie Shackelford. Thomas passed from this earth on Feb. 4, 2011. He was born on Dec. 3, 1945, to Albert Ramirez and Liola Sears. Thomas was originally from Scottsbluff, Neb., but lived in Stanislaus County with his wife Laura for the past five years. They traveled around for several years before settling in Modesto.

Inez was born in Los Banos to Joseph and Rose Puccinelli and passed away at the age of 85. She married Manuel B. Freitas at a ceremony performed at St. Thomas Cathedral in Reno on June 10, 1950. She was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her children on the family dairy in Stevinson where she lived from 1950 until her passing. Born July 19, 1929 in Turlock California, he passed on May 2, 2015. He attended Tegner Elementary and was a graduate of Turlock High School. As a young man he owned a hay hauling business with his brother. He married Lorraine Lewis in 1954, and remained happily married for 61 years. He later worked in construction and in 1976 he began JF Medeiros dairy construction company with his sons. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church of Turlock and a member of YMI of Hilmar.

Ingebjørg (Ingie) Odny Klevmyr

Ingie was born Ingebjørg Odny Olsen, in Kristiansund, Norway. She lived in Norway until emigrating to the United States in 1954 at the age of 31. She and her husband, Nils Klevmyr, were married in June of 1944, during World War II in occupied Norway. There first son, Rolf, was born shortly after the war in November of 1946.
