They married and moved to Turlock in January of 1950. She was a homemaker, and raised three sons: Larry, Don, and Rick. Bernice was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband Bob.

He was born near Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Benjamin and Audie Luttrell; the family of five children moved to Arvin, CA in the early 1930's during the depression, dust bowl era. There they worked as a family and built a permanent home. In 1941, Raymond entered WWII and served as an ambulance driver in the European campaign and was honorably discharged with the war's end in 1945 as a corporal of the Army 1st infantry division.
