Ernest D. Howard went to be with the Lord on Dec. 7 at his home with family and friends around him. He suffered with pain for many years because of polio in his youth and dealt with cancer at the end of his life.
Raymond Felix, 73, died peacefully on Dec. 13, 2010, with his family by his side at his home in Crowslanding, Calif. Raymond was born in August 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Raymond and Cristine Felix.
Maria F. Borges, 75 of Modesto, died Dec. 11 in Manteca. She was born in Ladeira, Grande, Terceira, Azores in 1934.
Adeline passed away peacefully at Tuolumne General Medical Facility in Sonora on Dec. 10 at the age of 102.
Sam Passalaqua, 94 of Turlock, died Dec. 13 in Turlock. He was born in 1916 in Wyandotte, Mich. He was a farmer for 80 years.
Clitheroe Dean Olivera was born in Oakland to James and Florence McGarva.
She is survived by daughters, Joan and Diane; and son, James.
Raymond L. Smith, 89 of Denair, passed away Thursday at Elness Convalescent Hospital. Mr. Smith was born in February 1921 in Maximo, Ohio, to the late Harry and Bertie Smith. He was drafted into the United States Marine Corps in 1942, and received his honorable discharge in 1946. He came to California in 1964, and married Rose Smith in 1973. They lived in the Russian River area until they settled in Denair seven years ago. He owned Rays Refrigeration for over 45 years. He belonged to the V.F.W. of Monte Rio, and enjoyed shooting a game of pool.
Saundra Baker, 66, died Nov. 24 at her residence in Turlock. She was born December 1943, in Loveland, Colo. to the late Robert and Theresa Baker. She was raised in the Bronx, and lived in Fall River, Mass. before living in Illinois. She settled in Turlock 20 years ago, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She recently lived in St. Thomas retirement center, which she enjoyed very much. Saundra was an artist with a passion for ballroom dancing. She enjoyed cats and loved to travel.
Saul Humberto Lopez, 48 of Delhi, passed away on Sunday , the day of our Lady of Guadalupe. He was born in Sinaloa, Mexico to Gonzalo and Maria del Rosario in 1962. He worked as a farm laborer for 27 years.
Austin Cowan, 85, loved BBQ, ragtime tunes, joking around, and reminiscing about working for "Ma Bell." Born in Hope, NM, to Vera and Audi Cowan, he came of age during the Great Depression. A hard working and determined man, he made a career with the Bell Telephone Company helping advance our nation's communication infrastructure. Austin had an adventurous life with many chapters.
Kirk James passed away after a short illness at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. He grew up in Delhi, attended schools there and graduated from Livingston High School in 1976. Kirk worked for Norcal Nursery and for the last 2 ½ years worked for Wendell Trinkler Jr.
Alice went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sept 25, 2014. Alice attended the Neighborhood Church of Redding for 30 years and was an active member of Stephens Ministries. Alice lived a full and happy life; she enjoyed shopping, playing cards, QVC and dancing. She was an avid square dancer for many years. She had many wonderful friends.
Maria M. Nunes, 77, of Turlock, passed away Wednesday, October 8. Also known as Mary, she was born September 23, 1937 to Francicso and Maria Freitas on the island of Terceira in the Azores. She married Jose "Joe" C. Nunes in 1956 and they immigrated to the United States in 1968 with their children, Alfred and George. Mary loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She made suits for her husband and sons. When she was able, she would be active in Sacred Heart Church and Our Lady of Assumption in Turlock, but she was most involved with family ...
