Our beloved mother, Mozell McAbee, 94, passed on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Brandel Manor in Turlock. She passed from this life into eternity to "Sleep in Jesus" and awaits the resurrection of the dead according to the Bible in the Gospel of John 5:28, 29, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, I Corinthians 15:51-57 and Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6.
Emmaline Hamrick passed away surrounded by her loving family on Oct. 14, 2010, at Hy-Lond Convalescent Hospital in Modesto. Emmaline was born January 1918 in Marysville, Calif. to the late James and Goldie Shirtz. She lived in Modesto from 1952 till 1964, and then lived in Plumas County and Butte County until she moved to Turlock in 2002.
Loren Newell Wright went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 18, 2010. He was born in Redwood City, Calif. on Oct. 9, 1927. He lived in Hawaii in his early years and graduated from Hilmar High School in 1944.
Harvey Humphrey, 85, of Modesto, passed away at Evergreen Rehabilitation Care Center. He was one of 11 children born to Joseph and Bertha Humphrey in Rupert County, Ark. In the late 30s they moved to California. He joined the Army in 1943, and served in World War II. After the Army, Harvey added some college classes. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NRA and a former member of the VFW.
Melvin Wilson, Sr., 77, of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Tuesday. He was born in Liberty County, S.C. to the late William H. and Lula Wilson. He grew up and attended school in Liberty County. In 1952, Melvin met his lifetime partner, Joy Williamson of San Francisco at the San Jose skating rink and they married the following year.
Alice Pera Yonan, 88, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2014. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Una Yonan, and sister, Diane Pera Yohannan. She is survived by her son, David Yonan, and daughter, Dina Yonan Gehring, her two sisters, Lillian Pera Abraham and Mariam Pera Miroo, and brother-in-law Albert D. Miroo. She was a Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, who will be loved and missed dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Assyrian Church of the East: Mar Addai Perish.
Our precious mother, Olive Elaine Dill, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014 into the arms of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ at her home in Turlock, California.
Shara Nickole Valadez, 21, died September 9, 2014. She was born December 10, 1992, in Salinas, California to Moises Alvarez and Sandra G. Alvarez. She grew up in Salinas until grade 4 when the family moved to the Central Valley. Shara attended Wakefield School, Dutcher School and Turlock High where she met the love of her life and future husband Chris Valadez. She attended Merced College as an Ag Business Major and worked at Home Depot. She is preceded in death by her brother Moses Alvarez, and Grandfather Guadalupe Alvarez.
William "Bill" Hartzell passed away peacefully on September 5th in Hughson, California. He is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is gone from our sight but forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Bill is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Sylvia; children Bill Ball (Paula) of Portland, Oregon, Beverly Hatcher, (Steve) of Turlock, California, Dan Hartzell, (Noreen) of Turlock, California, Dave Hartzell (Lynn) of Tracy, California and Teresa Miller (Mark) of Medford, Oregon. Claudia was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her father and three siblings: Sophia Alexi of Turlock, Robert Brimoanbi of Hawaii, and Albert Brimoanbi of Turlock.
Ila passed away peacefully in Turlock at the age of 94. She is predeceased by her husband William Versol Crow. She is survived by her three children, Sandy Snelling of Turlock, Judy Forrette (Gary) of San Mateo, and Gary Crow (Donna) of Cahone, Colorado. She was grandmother to nine, great-grandmother to 15, and great-great-grandmother to six. She is also survived by her sister Muriel Hartsell of Sonora, her sister-in-law OnaLou Lovelady Carter of Modesto, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Everett Beasley of Ceres CA passed away peacefully at Elness Convalesent Hospital in Turlock on September 7, 2014 at the age of 96. Born on July 11, 1918 in Rogersville, Missouri, Everett was the only child of Ernest and Eva Beasley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 12pm - 6pm at Allen Mortuary with the Rosary to follow at 8pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock.
Margaret Vasconcellos, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Turlock on September 1st.
Gus Coutrakis, 75, entered into rest August 31, 2014 at his self constructed hillside home near Lake Don Pedro. His beloved wife and best friend of 30 years, Vicki (Seagraves) Coutrakis was embracing him as he left his finger prints on our world. Also by his side, his devoted dog of 12 years Tula, who protected him, followed him and unbelievably understood him when others had no idea what he was saying…..
Hilda Ventura, age 79, passed away peacefully at Alexander Cohen Hospice House with her family by her side. She was born in Modesto to Frank and Rose Oliveira and lived most of her life in Turlock. She was married to her husband Louie Ventura for 60 years. Hilda worked for American Thread Company for 20 years until they closed. She retired from Emanuel Medical Center as a cook. Cmdr. Kenneth T. Sanders (1919-2014), pilot US Navy (retired), passed away peacefully on August 31, 2014 in Pensacola, FL. He was born in San Francisco as a 5th generation Californian whose family had migrated to CA in the late 1770's as part of the first overland expedition to the small hamlet of San Diego commanded by Juan Bautista de Anza travelling across the desert from Mission San Javier near Tuscon.
In loving memory of Dennis Lee Lewallen, 71 years of age. He served in the US Army from 1965-69, in the 7th infantry division during the Vietnam war and was awarded a Marksmanship medal. He was a truck driver for over 54 years and earned the California Truck Driver of the Year award for over 3 million miles accident free.
