Most of those receiving higher education degrees will take their expertise to the highest bidder in a very competitive job market. Very few will bring their talents back to the communities where they are needed most.

Animal rights groups seek justice for 50,000 starved hens

Time to fill the boot

Turlock Firefighters Local 2434 will be holding their annual Boot Drive on Saturday. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the intersection of Monte Vista Avenue and Countryside Drive in Turlock. Money raised will go directly back to the community. Since last year, the firefighters have donated thousands of dollars back into the Turlock community raised from the Boot Drive and their annual crab feed.
