Lightning ignites fires across state

Firefighters remain busy as they battle nine major wildfires burning in California and are bracing for increased winds and lightning. Over 5,500 firefighters continue to battle the large fires and are making progress including the recent containment of two large fires. Several wildfires have already been sparked by lightning over the past 12 hours, including a new 200 acre fire in Kern County.

Fire tears through Glasgow Street home

A fire of undetermined cause spread through a home in the 1200 block of Glasgow Street in Turlock Friday afternoon. The flames raced through the garage, leaving it in ruins and charred two vehicles parked outside. No injuries were reported and the investigation into the cause is ongoing, the Turlock Fire Department reported.
