State board to discuss impact to California agriculture as farm bill programs expire

Turlock couple share love of all things spooky

With Halloween just around the corner, local families are gearing up for the festivities by purchasing pumpkins, assembling costumes and, of course, buying candy for trick-or-treating. Along with the traditional door-to-door candy collecting on Halloween night, one particular house is hosting its own spooky adventure and inviting ghosts and ghouls of all ages to join in the fun.

Literacy program comes to homeless day center

Since its opening on Feb. 27, the Turlock Gospel Mission Homeless Assistance Ministry has provided the homeless a safe place to go during the day and a variety of social services. Thanks to the Turlock Rotary Club, the H.A.M. center will soon offer literacy and GED test tutoring.

First annual Breast Cancer Walk

Dozens of local women walked a mile in pink at the first ever Breast Cancer Walk held in support of the survivors, families and friends in the Turlock community. The walk began at the Emanuel Cancer Center and circumvented the hospital . Participants enjoyed pink lemonade and other refreshments after the end of the walk and were able to sign the survivor board in remembrance of cancer survivors.
