City encourages residents to increase water conservation efforts

The State of California has placed a mandatory 32 percent reduction in water consumption for the City of Turlock, using 2013 as the benchmark. In June, the City's water use reduction was 19 percent, falling short of the State's water use reduction mandate. In response, the State of California sent the City a Notice of Violation.

Early morning fire destroys historic Turlock church

County seeks input on R.A.M Farms request for extended hours, season

For many Turlockers, a visit to R.A.M. Farms has become a holiday tradition both in the fall for its pumpkin patch and corn maze and then again in winter for ice skating and a picture with Santa Claus. The farm's popularity is evident in the dramatic increase in visitors, from close to 15,000 when it was just a pumpkin patch to 30,000 last year when the farm doubled the size of its ice skating rink.

Farm income, crop prices expected to decrease in 2015

Across nearly all measures, farm sector profitability is forecast to decline for the second straight year. Net cash income is forecast at $100.3 billion, down about 21 percent from 2014 levels. Lower crop and livestock receipts are the main drivers of the change in 2015 net cash farm income from 2014, while cash production expenses are projected down by 1.1 percent.
