Fair seeks local talent

The Stanislaus County Fair is looking for local talent to fill its 2013 Community Stage line-up. Local artists are needed to perform for various days on the Health Plan of San Joaquin Community Stage for the 10-day run of the Fair. The fair is considering martial arts demonstrations, dance, and musical performances from local clubs and groups.

ONE DAY OF SERVICE

Pitman and Turlock High Key Club members joined the Kiwanis Club of Turlock on Saturday for the annual Kiwanis One Day event. The combined club members made dozens of fleece blankets and ponchos that will be donated to the Delhi Fire Department, Turlock Gospel Mission women and children's shelter program, the We Care men's shelter program and the Turlock Police Department.

Eastern Star returns to Turlock

One of Turlock's original clubs will make a triumphant return to the community after a 20 year absence. High winds down trees, cut power to local homes

Rain topples pine giant

Karen Anderson got quite a scare Monday afternoon. The south Turlock resident was labeling cans in her kitchen when she heard a "swish, swish" sound and then "a big bang" before her whole house shook. Fallen trees, flooding worst of storm for Turlock

The storm that dropped a deluge of rain on Turlock Thursday night may have felled some trees and caused localized street flooding in multiple areas of town, which kept city crews busy throughout the night, but on the whole left Turlock fairly unscathed, according to city officials.
