For the past 10 years, Hilmar Covenant Church has provided a safe space where those who may be grieving can share their stories through GriefShare – a 13-week program for adults mourning the loss of someone close to them.

104 years young

Frances Stewart celebrated her 104th birthday on Friday at Main West Nursing and Rehab Center. Turlock Mayor Gary Soiseth stopped by to wish her happy birthday and give her flowers. Stewart was born in Arkansas and moved to California when she was 54 years old. Her family first settled in Indo, and later moved to Delhi. She and her husband have seven children and several grandchildren. She has out lived her husband, whom she lost 45 years ago. She has also outlived two of her children. Dance studio icon recognized for achievements

For over 30 years, local dance company Backstage Academy of Dance has brought the classic Christmas tale of "The Nutcracker" to life, with dancers of all ages performing what has become a holiday tradition in Turlock. Stanislaus County sheriff candidate Juan Alanis, his daughter Kayla Yager and wife Barbara Alanis collected toys for Turlock Together and Jessica's House at Carnivore's BBQ Sandwich Shop on Monday night. The toy drive was the second such event Alanis has hosted during his campaign; the group was able to collect about 80 toys for the Modesto Family Justice Center recently as well.
