Westside Ministries launched its annual Coats 4 Kids donations drive with a downtown dance party Thursday night in front of Carr's Cleaners. For over 30 years, the local nonprofit has collected winter coats for youth of all ages, with Carr's Cleaners serving as a drop off location and providing a free cleaning for each used coat donated.
Lori Allen, host of the popular TV shows "Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta" and "Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids" is the featured speaker at Emanuel Cancer Center's annual Women's Cancer Awareness Night Out.

Turlock is known for having some of the most innovative and inspiring business, agricultural and philanthropic leaders in the region and each year the Chamber of Commerce takes time to recognize these noteworthy citizens through the Best of Turlock awards. This year will mark the 48th anniversary of the awards and Chamber President and CEO Karin Moss is hoping the entire community will join in with honoring these outstanding leaders.
The Oakdale Equine Rescue has saved more than 360 horses since its inception in 2010. What started with just six horses only six years ago has evolved into the Oakdale based non-profit organization whose mission is to rehabilitate, foster and find homes for each horse they accept.

Don Pedro Recreation Agency will implement an 8.5 percent increase on average across all proposed fees in 2017.. Fee increases will range from just $2 more per night for tent camping in season to $50 more for an annual private houseboat permit with a non-discount renewal.
As the days inch closer to November the Turlock Gospel Mission is moving forward with plans to open their emergency cold weather shelter and this year it will be under the helm of a new executive director.
