The community at Covenant Village in Turlock shared their gratitude and respect for the first responders in Turlock by hosting their second annual breakfast for the men and women that make up the police and fire departments and emergency services.
Back in 2014, the Turlock City Council added an ordinance to the city's municipal code that in conjunction with a previously passed ordinance looked to permanently put the brakes on panhandling, but the issue is proving to be far more difficult to curb than expected and has city officials looking for other options.

Judith Suliman visits Turlock's skate park almost every day. Although you won't see her honing her skills on the park's rails or ramps, she is very invested in the success of the park. Suliman was the driving force in having the Turlock Skate Park renamed in honor of her nephew, Brandon Koch, who lost his battle with adrenocortical cancer in April 2012.
February is National Bird-Feeding Month. In her article Feb. 7 article in the Journal, Dr. E. Kirsten Peters concludes that feeding birds in winter is beneficial for the birds. I agree. However, it can also be a real blessing for those who do the feeding.

Neighbors are up in arms at the prospect of a four-floor apartment complex that could be built near California State University, Stanislaus for student housing making it the tallest apartments in Turlock.
The popularity of ebooks continues to rise among the region's readers as the Stanislaus County Library saw a demand for the material in 2013-14 that was more than double what it had been the previous year, according to the library's annual report.
