BOOKS ABOUND

Anamarie Orozco peruses the books for sale at the annual Friends of the Turlock Public Library book sale. The sale features more than 10,000 books, both hardcover and paperback, to choose from, with prices ranging from 25 cents to $1. All proceeds are donated to the library to help pay for programs and materials. The sale continues from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Health screenings at EMC

Emanuel Medical Center will be offering free health screenings at their Path to Health Fair, set for Jan. 31. Free diabetes screening, cholesterol screening, and blood pressure checks will be offered at Emanuel's health fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital's East wing. In addition, attendees can learn compression-only CPR in less than 10 minutes and talk with staff about insurance options available to them under the Affordable Care Act.
