Couples tie the knot at Valentine’s Day wedding extravaganza

If you were to ask Modesto resident Vanessa Martinez what Valentine's Day meant to her prior to Tuesday, she likely would have said that it had little to no significance to her. That all changed this Valentine's Day, however, when she and fiancé David Martinez joined nearly 50 other couples who converged at the historic McHenry Mansion in downtown Modesto to say "I do" during the sixth annual "Marriage at the Mansion" event.

Turlock IRC office helps family separated by travel ban

Just three weeks ago, Nael Abdulqader was unsure if he would ever see his family again. He was permitted into the United States as a refugee on Jan. 18, and was forced to leave his parents and nine siblings across the Atlantic Ocean as he pursued a new life. Despite his fears, Nael's time apart from his family was not in vain as they were brought together once more in a heartwarming reunion Monday night.
