Westside Ministries keeps kids warm with annual coat drive

For many, the month of December signifies warm nights spent by the fireplace, surrounded by loved ones and perhaps a few Christmas stockings as the temperature drops outside. Some families dread the colder months, however, as they cannot afford a coat for their child to protect them from the harsh weather. For the past 28 years, Westside Ministries has made it their mission to provide for these families through their annual Coats 4 Kids coat drive, providing coats, toys and haircuts to local, underserved youth.

The campaign, "One Heart, One Mind, One Prayer," hopes to raise enough revenue to keep the organization's doors open for another year.

Turlock teen selected to sing national anthem at Foster Farms Bowl

Turlock High School student Felisha Dias has never taken a singing lesson, but that didn't stop her from winning the Foster Farms Bowl "Oh Say, Can You Sing?" contest. Thanks to her victory, the 16-year-old has been awarded the opportunity to sing the national anthem in front of 70,000 frenzied football fans before the upcoming bowl game at Levi's Stadium.
