Senator requests emergency declaration for state's trees

Senator Tom Berryhill (R-Twain Harte) submitted a request to Governor Jerry Brown and California Office of Emergency Services Director, Mark Ghilarducci, to declare a State of Emergency because of the threat presented by the increasing numbers of dead and dying trees in rural areas.

City adopts new Traffic Calming Program

Pieter Hoex described to the Turlock City Council on Tuesday the traffic in front of his home near the Pitman High School campus as being like a daily "speedway," with drivers traveling at a high rate of speed through his residential neighborhood. After conveying the frequency that he sees hazardous driving on his street, he had one request of the City of Turlock: "I'd like to get a couple of speed bumps in there, the higher the better."

Contract review finds Chamber never submitted tourism financial reports to City

An external review of the public funds spent by the Turlock Chamber of Commerce to promote tourism on behalf of the City of Turlock was presented to the City Council in a special meeting on Thursday, a process the Council undertook in an effort to close out a long-standing contract between the Chamber and the City of Turlock.

Turlock cyclists rejoice as Council adopts Active Transportation Plan
