Sex offender sweep nets 22 arrests

The Merced County Sheriff's Department conducted a sweep of sex offenders, arresting 22 individuals for probation and registration violations. A two vehicle collision in east Modesto Monday morning resulted in the death of a 43-year-old Turlock man. The Stanislaus County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Al Avila of Turlock.
